Your view on the selection decision this week, and who was in line for consideration? I just thought we had an opportunity to blood a few and rest some others.

Jimmae I don't have an opinion because I don't have enough information about who is fit to play and who is not. Who is mentally on the ball and who is not.

I don't know who has been given instructions and roles to play in the VFL and who has carried those instructions and/or roles out well. I don't have the detailed analysis that Cordy has regarding who; needs to be rested and who needs to keep playing based on the fact that a bye is not far away.

I can't read between the lines regarding what Ratts said about Carrots running well and whether he was ready to play this week.

I don't know where Austin, Bower and Lucas are at in regards to their mindset and/or fitness to play AFL.

I do know you can't fit 25 into 22 and if some worthy choices are still missing out of the team then that can only be a good thing. I don't know but I can surmise the MC want to try and settle down the team leading into the finals but we are still awaiting the return of Hammer, Waity, Jamo, Carrots, Curnow, Paul Bower and JR. So that means there are 4 or 5 who are currently playing that have their spots up for grabs.

Those players are obviously; Touhy, Davies, Armfield, McLean, Houls, AJ and maybe Ellard. So I would surmise it may be abit pointless to start bringing others into the team at this late stage to cloud the issue. That is not to say it won't happen but I don't know why it would.

Regards Cazzesman

We may as well not have this discussion board.

By extension of "I don't have an opinion because I don't have the knowledge or expertise", that might be true of expert evidence in legal proceedings, but you are saying that unless you have knowledge, don't express your opinion, even if it's hypothetical.

I may disagree with many on this board, but I will defend their right to say it unless it is defamatory or illegal. You keep rolling your eyes at people who express their opinions, such expression many find somewhat cathartic. With all due respect, that point of view leads to a "I know more than you so there" atmosphere to the forum, which I'm sure, people don't appreciate.

I agree as well. Cazzesman this is a forum to express your opinions on football. We all know that you have no knowledge or understanding of the game but at least have a crack at offering something or please do us all a favour and leave the site.

I don't think Cazz said you can't offer an opinion, bear in mind it is just that....an opinion. He's chosen not to offer one in this situation because his opinion would be uninformed.

As for asking him to leave the site because of that...

On this day in 1983 the mighty Bruce Doull played his 300th game for the Blues.

People over think footy.

Here's how it will go today,

Melbourne will come out hard and then we will samsh them in the second half.

I don't know much, but I know we're a good team occasionally bordering on great, and they're a rabble occasionally bordering on cohesive and competitive...and that's at full strength. Their outs are much more damaging to them than our outs.

They have "something" to play for yes, but we've got something bigger to play for, and every game should be like that - our top 4 and/or successful finals aspirations should be enough motivation to outplay any opponent "playing for something." Plus it's the anniversary of the Flying Doormat's 300th game. Yeah, that'll do. Do it for Doullsy. There's always something if you can find it

That said, we're usually notoriously slow starters and I'm pleasantly surprised when the boys explode off the first bounce. Melbourne will come out firing, no question. However, like almost every game we've seen this year (due to sub rules and less rotatable players) the stronger team will almost always outrun the weaker team, in either the 3rd or 4th quarter. It could be a drawn game at 3 quarter time and I'd expect us to run away by 8-10 goals. It won't take that long though, and I'm expecting a comfortable 10-15 goal win, providing the boys don't switch off and start second half junk time. Record score vs. Melbourne is 25.15.165 and winning margin 116, both at the G in 1986. Play for that.

These guys also don't know much...but they know enough

We could tank today so we play them in week one of the finals instead of someone like the bombers or swans.

Only semi serious of course.

Bit wet out right now. I picked a good day to take a friend to the game for the first time.

However it looks like just showers on the radar.

We play better in the rain.

It was bucketing down 20min ago. Settling a bit now.

We just have to be harder than them at the footy. That is all.
