Interesting regarding Lonergan. I am a big fan of his and think he’s a really good defender (though got howled down around here when I suggested Carlton take a look at him). Still, he’s probably not the sort of player that’s needed against us so it’s not such a huge loss for the Cats.

Anyway, I like our changes for this week. I sort of like our chances, but worry about coming off the bye.

Haha - slowest centre line EVER.

Yeah, yeah, they won't line up that way but still ... you know, tee hee and that

Not as odd at the fact that Richmond doesn't actually have any indiginous players playing for them...

Just to continue getting off the topic I drive past their new facility every day. For the last six months the facade has been all yellow and black. This week some red bits were added to the facade, I wonder why it took so long to add the red bits?

Anyway we have four indigenous boys going around this week.

Go Blues.

There were definitely patches of red before the Essendon* game. Some guy made comment on it as we were walking past.

Predictible changes. Good luck Brock!

Surprised the AFL hasn't changed things so players get Dream Time points this round.

Think they're down to one aren't they? Taylor is back in the NT isn't he?

Not surprised with our team selections.

Looks like Geelong are trying to expolit our lack of height in defence by including Vardy along with Hawkins and Ottens. Vardy is very mobile and has good hands - a younger version of Ottens.

According to Chris Scott if Taylor Hunt made it through training he was a definite starter. Gives them a small, fast and aggressive defender.

Not too surprised about Lonergan. He missed Round 2 and 3 with a leg injury and they are saying calf this time. Apparently he did come off early in the 1st quarter in the game against Collingwood and took a couple of tablets. With our small forwards Geelong will be looking for versatility and speed and if I recall last time we played them Harry Taylor spent a bit of time on the bench as there wasn't really a match up for him so going in without Lonergan probably doesn't impact them too much.
Milburn gives them versatility - forward or back.

Great to see Laidler back - been great for us so far and looks a dead set 200 gamer for us IMO.

All the best to Brock - we need him to perform big time !

Not sure why people want to drop Robbo or play him as the sub.
He deserves full game time in the ones on the back of his recent performances.

Hendo definitely wont come in. Playing well against Frankston doesn't mean much.
If he plays like he has recently he will be a passenger regardless.

I cant see Setanta going out either, has been serviceable, and Hammer hasn't set the world on fire in the twos.

In: McLean, Laidler
Out: Curnow, Joesph.

[quote="Sugarcane"]Reckon we're a big chance

They don't have superstar tall fwds, so that helps our undersized backline to an extent (though on their day Pods and Mooney can trouble any team)

Thornton will play anyone into form :banghead:

Your Dream Team must suck then! :smoking:

We will cut them up though the middle. Gibbs to go with Bartel. Need a player strong overhead to go against him. JR to Stevie J. Judd & Murphy to take on who ever comes near them!

Upon further reflection, when I said I couldn't see where Geelong have improved in stoppages or speed in their backline, I neglected to acknowledge the form Ottens is in currently. He is no doubt playing at a higher level than any Geelong ruck has been over the last three times we've played, and Robbie will need to step up considerably to give us a break even there.

I wouldn't underestimate the loss of Lonergan and Ling, particularly. Menzel is a nice player but his absence won't impact heavily. However Ling being out means they'll need to find another, less effective stopper for Murphy/Judd, and Lonergan being out means Taylor will need to go to Waite and Scarlett will need to go to Carlos. Having those guys needing to think a little more accountably helps the advantage we have in leg speed in the other match ups.

But that Ottens factor is pretty big. Robbie is going to have a huge say in how we go this week. I'm not as confident as I was 24 hours ago.

Carlton by 26 points.

Great feeling about this one.

I think we're due for a breakout game...to smash decent opposition, and announce to the world that the Blues are back..baby.

If fact i'm so confident, that i've made a small investment on us to win by 40+ :yikes:

Paying $13

Get on
