Today has been my favourite day all season listening to all these sooks!

A very insightful comment was posted in response to that article by Darren a Collingwood supporter and member who believes Gerard's article was 'a tough call'. I think he's spot on.

What a waste of ink and bandwidth.

Seriously Mike, a two-page spread on why Judd's win is a conspiracy. Some credit must also go to Jon Anderson for compiling the stats to the feature (supercoach points, getting 3 votes for only having 24 disposals).

Useless "journalists" are uniting.

Caro sums it up better than any of the media people with her first few words...
"Best player by far on a reasonably good team."

I just can't believe the favourite didn't win the Brownlow, when was the last time that happened?

No one has a divine right to a Brownlow. If you don't win it, stiff shit. It's the umpires award. It doesnt matter if Swan won every other award and Judd came last. The umps don't have to vote the way Gerard wants them too.

I think it has escaped everyone's notice that Swan finished 3rd. Besides on TC, everywhere else I have read has been that Judd shafted Swan. Would everyone have been so upset if Ablett won.

What shits me is that if Judd had been suspended and missed 2-3 games or not polled so well in a couple of games then Ablett would have won - not Swan. Clearly most of the people whinging cannot perform simple mathematical calculations.

Every year there are games when the 3 votes go to either someone who's not a favourite, or a player from the losing team. It's not unique to this year.

AND, everyone* would be bagging the AFL for a system where the guy who wins the Brownlow by a clear 4 votes (and with 5 rounds to spare...) couldn't win b/c he accidentally threw his arm back and Pavlich's face happened to be there!
People just like to whinge.

* Except Geelong supporters who would support the result and Collingwood supporters who would be bagging Ablett, saying Swan deserved it more.

(PS. Loving the excuses being made for Swan not being noticed enough or b/c he ha tatts - he got 24 votes ffs!! he was noticed. just wasn't as good!!!!)

The problem with Journo's and supporters now is that they EXPECT the player that gets the most possessions in a game to get best on ground. This presumption is so horribly wrong it's not funny. Impact and effect on a game is what stands out. Judd has that over every player in the league bar none.

Ablett's 40 possession game against Collingwood in the preliminary final was hailed by some as the " greatest performance in a final " they have ever seen. Well knock me down with a flowering feather, you got to be kidding. Anyone that watched that game would have seen his turnovers in the 1st and 2nd quarter that cost Geelong goals. Geelong was down by 80 points at one stage. Ablett was not BOG, I've seen him play much better games than that. Look at Judd's 3rd quarter against Sydney in the elimination final and that is impact and effect and Judd does it week in, week out and that's what draws the votes from the umpires.

I counted Judd's possible votes on Saturday and came up with a maximum of 30 votes. I did the same thing last year and I counted about 28 but last year Murphy and Gibbs took votes off him and this year they didn't. Pity I didn't put any money it. Even the Herald Sun's Brownlow form guide had Judd as being HOT in 7 games, so why the shock that he won it?

Mike Sheehan used to love Judd when he was at WCE but seems to target him every chance he gets. The only reason I can think of is that he now plays for Carlton.

The way some commentators have degraded the Brownlow because Judd won it is a disgrace. I've probably watched every Brownlow Medal count since 1981 and there have been many huge upsets but that does not mean the players were not deserving of the medal. I love watching it and love the format and it should never be changed. It's what makes it great and sometimes the debate is even greater.

Should we take Wanganeen's medal off him and give it to Williams as he should have got 3 votes for his 44 possession game against Melbourne in 1993? While we are at it let's even strip Viewed of the Melbourne Cup because he was not a favourite to win it. Favourite's don’t always get up, that's why people bet on these things.

Judd's a pure champion and deserved his medal.

If that's true, it's safe to say that defenders mustn't have much effect on a game.

Tall poppy syndrome...pure and simple.

Well, it has given me a lot of joy seeing Judd with the Brownlow Medal, and Mike and his loony mate Gerard have not impacted on my joy at all.

You can feel their twisted bitterness (Gerard and Mike) as you read their comments, so it is impossible to take their comments seriously.

I loved Juddy as a player before he came to Carlton - in fact, I barracked for the Eagles in 2006 just cause Judd was in the team. He is an exceptional player, and if Mike and Gerard can't see that then that is their loss. I love footballers who can produce the sublime, the unfathomable and Judd can do this more regularly than any player....I think he can do it even more than Mike's pet favourite Lance Franklin.....or are only umpires allowed to have "pet favourites"?

I actually don't mind Dane Swan, he is an admirable footballer, but he isn't the first pre-vote favourite to miss out. Didn't Richmond go ballistic when Bartlett "lost" the 1974 Brownlow to Keith Gregg? Maybe Gerard can refer back to how haunted he was by that vote...shame he didn't play for Carlton though. It is far more fun kicking the boot into a Carlton player, right?

Instead of reading Gerard bile I think I will go and watch some dvds of some Judd magic from 2010, or will I look at what he did in 2006?
Not sure, but it it is far better than reading about people's petty tall poppy orientated bitterness.

p.s I hope Judd plays even better in 2011. That will show them.

Does Judd have to do the grand final parade this friday? That would be interesting.

I`m just wondering if Gerard is a bit upset about Juddy having 2 Brownlows now and Gold Coast Gary only 1. Might have been harder for him to leave Gerard`s beloved Cats if he won on Monday.
Really, you have had your success just be gracious.

He is leaving next week, the day after our B and F.
I think it is disgraceful the way journo's and talk back radio have gone on and on about Judd winning. Mike Sheehans article was not necessary, many favourites dont win the brownlow yet they never go on and on about it like they have this year. Some idiot today rang SEN saying that the umpires shouldnt have given Judd any votes in the Freo game as they had reported him. For goodness sake i wish they would get their facts right. The game against Collingwood when Judd got 3 votes keeps getting brought up, the Collingwood supporters argue that because Collingwood won no Carlton player should get BOG. It was pointed out that Buckley wouldnt have won the Norm Smith in that case. Robbo have Judd BOG in the Collingwood game and i went to it and thought he was too.
Enough.

You should of heard Dwayne Russell tonight giving it to Mike Sheehan.

A listener rang and reminded Mike that Juddy actually won the 3AW player of the year (that took him by surprise).

Mike was eluding to umpires being a conservative lot and would not like tatts much

Then a moron Filth supporter rang to say against them Juddy had 10 inside 50s of which 9 were ineffective (not sure where he got the figures from). The Filth would not let Dwayne or Gerard Healy (the good Gerard on this occassion) respond and like a true filth supporter just hung up in a puff. Well suck s#!t ar$ehole, Juddy won the brownlow!!!
