Finally got around to renewing the camel’s memberships for 2008.

The nice lady on the phone told me last she heard our tally was just over 26K.

Oddly though, it looks being a problem to only have one issue of the magazine sent to our address. I remember a couple of years ago it was possible to choose for only one copy of the mage per household, presumably that was a cost driven measure. Given Mr Pratt’s willingness to support the environment I would have thought this would be a no brainer...

...anyone have his email address?! ;)

I renewed by phone on 20 February, and our packs arrived on Judd day (well, they might have arrived to our PO Box sooner, but I collected them on Judd day and that's all that matters).

We also had two membership renewal letters that were presumably sent out a day or two before our membership packs. Given I phoned through our renewal a couple of weeks prior it's a shame that the resources were used to send these renewals. I'm guessing we're not the only people this has happened to.

I know it's only a small thing, but if the club wants to portray a truly green image then their membership database needs to be more real time to ensure double ups like this don't happen.

Still no response on only having one copy of Inside Carlton delivered per household...

our membership department is still pretty poorly managed - nice enough when you call - but too many stuff ups

also on the "green" issue - why send an interstate member a voucher that then has to be sent back to redeem that hat or scarf?

more envelopes, more paper, more postman carbon emmisions - seems an odd way to do it.

That struck me as strange also. I emailed the club about this but was told that they would not post me a scarf/cap without redeeming the voucher buy post. :?

a friend who just renewed her membership on friday said she asked how much we were on and the person told her that last she heard we'd just cracked 30k.

The question is not what we are now on but how many ahead we are compared to last year? this will give us the best indication of how many we will end up with. Come on, past forum posts should reveal this info.

I will say, if we don't get at least 40,000 I will be very sad

We all want 40,000. It's a target.

Why? Because we're Carlton, and we expect results.

But if were to end with 39,999 or even 38,000, I'd be bery happy; indications would be we're heading in the right direction.

If every year we do better than the previous, we're on track to being the greatest club in the land in all ways!

Good News,

I went back and found that on March 16th we hit 25,000 members. With 4 days in the kitty we are already on 30,000. We are on good pace to hit 40,000 and 35,000 by the start of Round 1

At the same stage Essendon* had 31,000

To save you the effort of reading back a couple of pages, see below. :P

On 2 March last year we were at 22,500 members.

March is a bit over a week away, and by then we should be close to 5K ahead of where we were at the same stage last year.

40K is still achievable.

Not sure why people are ruling out 40K at this stage. :?

Unfortunately I accidentally ditched the data that built the graph below when I switched computers and I can't be arsed compiling it again but based on that graph we've never been above 20,000 by today's date (though we probably were in 2003 but there was a dearth of data around the same point).

This date last year's not on the graph but according to the Herald Sun on the 21st of Feb last year we were on 19532.

So...

...if we're at 26,500 today (that's 35% up on last year!) we're going to absolutely spank the record and go beyond 40,000 reasonably comfortably. :-D

BigFooty reporting closer to 37 000.
Surely we couldn't be doing that well right?!?

keep in mind that we can't really compare this time last year with now as the season is starting alot earlier - better to compare now with one week before last season commenced.

I think Mr Pratt said 30,246 members as of last night?

...to hit 30 thousand before round 1 is pretty good...to start the season off with some good performances will get some bandwagoners on board too...crucial for membership to perform early in the season...

Remember that we won the NAB cup last year, which would've boosted our membership tally. We don't have that this year, however, breaking 30,000 already is a bloody good effort, and we should be on track to maybe 37,000 - 38,000.

Just shows how good carlton supporters are, we have had our highest membership numbers in our history, between 2003-2008. Tell's you something about our great club

On a strictly date for date basis last year we were at 24500 on the 9/3 and 25011 on the 16/3 so about 24750 on the 12th which means this year we're up 22.28% at the same date.

Last year's first CFC game was on the 1st of April so yesterday's figure of 30265 should therefore equate to the 23rd of March figure last year (ie 8 days before the first bounce).

Last year on that date we had 26256 so we're 15.27% ahead if you base it on days out from the start of the season.

If we can maintain even that lower figure of 15.27% we'd get 40746 this year.

40K still seems feasible.
