Theyre going places.. is that why youre agitated??

Where are they going? They appear to be climbing but in Clarkson they have their answer to Grant Thomas. As for us well that's another story

No they shit me. I thought we were arrogant. Don't really like their president telling us where we should play.

They turfed out the players going nowhere for good picks.
They have taken advantage of the draft and drafted well... and have a bunch of really good kids coming through.Ellis / Muston have not even been called on to play a single game of footy yet.. and Dowler played 2.
They have a state of the art training facility..
And a business plan to see them through the next 10 years and set them up for beyond...

What do you mean where are they going???
Hawthorn is flying...!!!

They'll be flying when they deliver a premiership.

Thats silly... as an organisation theyre flying right now.

Remember... youre meant to be setting up a club for he short term and the medium to long term...
Theyre set up for the short term (without guarantees because there are no guarantees) and they are well down the road of setting up themselves in the medium to long term in a way most clubs would be envious.

Remember youre expecting your club to be around and financial for beyond one year at a time...

And also remember they were at the point of merging with Melbourne a decade ago.

so they have done very well for themselves.

Theyre flying!!!

Synbad i know that you absolutely love the way the Hawks have gone about it. Am i jealous perhaps a little. What grates me is that the pricks have no wooden spoon to show for 2 years worth of PP's. Rewind to last year as a point in case. They were belting the Tigers late in the year but amazingly got caught on the line and lost and hey presto the PP was saved. I'm sure there were other games they should have won but TANKED. You understand they TANKED. T-A-N-K-E-D. Add the Pies in 2005 and what we have now is the Blues pleading to the AFL for a reinstatement of the PP. A pick that perhaps the AFL would not have changed the rules for if the hawks had not TANKED.

Jealous of their list yes maybe a little. Especially that Franklin character. But f*** them because i can always throw one word at those pricks-JUDD. And in addition I hate with a passion A Clarkson. So this is one topic that you will never be able to change my views on. Never.

See ?
We hate other clubs for doing all the right things.
they were not scared of trading guys who didnt have that much footy left in them... we are.
They dont have a wooden spoon... but they didnt try and rush going up the ladder.
They could have gone for a safe name coach but didnt.. and he is what they need at the moment.. were scared of putting a no name coach in charge.
They wernt afraid to play games elsewhere (interstate0 while they were shit and bring in the dollars.. (we want to play in WA only .. or beg)

They have made ALL the right moves.. we have been umming and arghhhing..

Good luck to them.. they have found themselves a real business model by making hard choices.

We cant!

Thats all good, but at the end of the day History will tell us who won the flag. Carlton will be around, year by year, day by day, if we are to win another flag before Hawthorn then all this flying you talk about proves your only as good as the 22 who take the field.

Credit to the Hawks for the turnaround but at the end of the day silverware is what success is about in the AFL.

Synners one more thing. To quote our esteemed coach  the proof will be in the pudding. The Hawks have a few experienced old types that have contributed heaps. May no mistake the effect Everitt, Crawford, Vanderburg and J Smith have made. How many will be around in a couple of years?

ps For a team that's flying correct me if i'm wrong we still beat them in the membership stakes and that after 5 years at the bottom.

Naive arent you???

All you can ask from your club is to put you in a situation where youre going to give yourself every chance .

thats what they have done...

theyre flying...

I really cant stand small minded individuals that look for faults in an organisation thats flying.

This is precisely what we would have all wanted from our club.
to put us in the box seat to win a premiership and to sustain itself financially..
And to create an environement to move forward into the next era.

Looking at it any other way is just ignorant.

Thay have more than enough cover for those players Rod...

Like i said they have top 5 picks who havent played and others who they havent even called upon.

I dont know what youre watching but i didnt see them relying overly on those players you named tis year.

Go through their list ...

Like to point out where I have faulted Hawthorn? I agree with what you have said about them off field but to me success is measure in premierships and until that happens they aint flying, simply progressing.

If they hadn't beaten Carlton, Essendon* and North in the last three games it wouldn't been an even more woeful year. That losing streak was pathetic.

Franklin, Roughead, Hodge, Muston, Ellis, Dowler, Lewis, Birchall, Bailey, Campbell, Mitchell, Sewell and probably 3 top 20 picks in November.
They have a super list of youngsters with quality leadership potential.
Forget this year Verbs, they're building for 2008 and beyond.

What happened in the middle of 2006 means jack shit.

They stopped to a complete walk after half time against us, and then turned around and did the exact same thing again the next week. Round 22 was a shambles with Hawthorn winning with a woeful score of only 58.

If they're building for 2008 I'd anticipate a finals appearance then, and a premeirship challenge by 2010. They'll need to improve an awful lot (and as has been pointed out they're going to be losing a lot of exerience) to be anywhere near there by 2010. They are miles off.
