Would be embarrassing to have a fit 21 year old, first round draft pick not good enough to be in our best 22. If he aint ready to go now, he never will be.

..BB has played only one full-time season if footywire, prior to that volleyball was his main focus, think of him as a late comer, not as mature age..

I think Phil's (Pinnel) point is that for a first round draftee and being 21 surely we could have traded for a known quantity and makes BB pick look speculative.

I like what Ive seen from BB and have no doubt with the loss of Betts, Garlett, Lucas (not that they added value to our team last year) and the absence of Walker we really have a need for outside speed like the top teams have.

God I hope BB passes some of the top 22 because of talent and not just because we need to get games into him. Development program is the key....dont get me started on that...I'll just cross my fingers and hope our people are aware of the Southampton processes.

We can finish mid table too!

Having said that if we start the season well...I'm feeling record membership.

AFL's predicted best 22;

Best 22
B: Zach Tuohy, Michael Jamison, Andrew Walker
HB: Chris Yarran, Sam Rowe, Simon White
C: Kade Simpson, Chris Judd, Dale Thomas
HF: Troy Menzel, Lachie Henderson, Andrejs Everitt
F: Dylan Buckley, Levi Casboult, Liam Jones
Foll: Matthew Kreuzer, Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy
I/C: Patrick Cripps, Andrew Carrazzo, Kristian Jaksch
Sub: Sam Docherty

I would make minor changes to the setup ie. Docherty in 21, Carrazzo in 18 & question White selection but that looks about right!

To me, that is our best 22 but the set up is wrong, agreed.

Not happy with the predicted 14th place finish.
That side, if fully fit, would challenge any.

No shocks there, but there's still another position available on the list via Giles' position on the LTI list.

What about our best 22 at the end of year. What I am hoping it is:

Jamison Rowe Docherty
Yarran Jaksch Buckley
Gibbs Thomas Boekhurst
Menzel Henderson Walker
Jones Casboult Smith
Wood Murphy Cripps
Judd, Simpson, Tuohy, Everitt

You're hoping Curnow, Kreuzer, Bell and Sheehan are in the reserves?

Yes.

However I would love nothing more than Kreuzer to be in that team but I don't think he will play that much longer.

Curnow's an interesting one. I know he gives 100% (something not all the players do) but watching the three NAB practice matches, I did think that he was one player that could easily get pushed out of the 22 as his involvements rarely ended on a positive note i.e. a shot on goal.

I would probably prefer Bell over Curnow (unless we specifically need a tagger for someone), Docherty over Tuohy. I like Tuohy but if the other 2 Irish boys continue to improve at the current rate, then he will have to improve a lot.

Looks like we don't have enough talent for a decent 22.

"Carlton, Brisbane, Collingwood have some hope — each nurses optimism — but the odds are against each seeing September action, for myriad reasons. Collingwood has insufficient experience, Carlton insufficient talent, the Lions inadequate key position players."

Tuohy has been nothing short of dominant in his role since about round 20 last year. Had niggles and a newborn to knock him off the top of his game.

Very, very good player.

In fact, here we go:

Tuohy: Sky's the limit for Blues

Quote:
Carlton star Zach Tuohy has a message for the club’s loyal supporters: ‘My best is yet to come’.

Portlaoise born Tuohy – an ever-present in the Navy Blues backline in the past two seasons – has played a total of 76 senior games since his AFL debut in 2011, but by his own admission struggled for consistency last season.

“I had a poor year in 2014 but I’m aiming to step up as a defensive leader this season,” Tuohy told the Irish Mirror.

“Last year was difficult at times with the birth of my first son, Flynn, and some off-field changes in my life. This year, I’m more settled, confident, and determined to improve on my career best form in 2013.”
