Seems just about every player who has come back from injury to play against Carlton this season has torched us.

If Young plays then that spud Cox will outreach a slightly taller, but still smaller opponent and kick multiple goals.

Weitering aside, Carlton does not have a hard at it tall defender who can reliably defend and/or impact marking contests.

@#$%&! I would love it if one of our players would run through Pendlebury at the first centre bounce. Flaten him.
Set the tone for the next 8 weeks in the first 30 seconds on Saturday.

instead watch our guys shake his hand before the bounce, and be nice to him all game long.

A joke and a laugh after the loss, then "Crippa" pairs with "Sidey" to chair him off?

Young did well against Cox last time he played on him.
Young got out muscled once to mark and goal.
Young won that battle imo. Because he was the only tall we had who could go with Cox.

If the MC think Kemp is a better match on Cox than Young, then Young isn't even a break glass option this week.

Looks like Frampton has also been selected to give the Pies more height in their backline.

So, Pies are taller than Blues in Ruck, Backline and Forwardline.

Maynard can now go to Martin.
Frampton to Harry in the F50
Moore to hold FB and the stationary Curnow.

Our forwards may have a mobility advantage over their defenders.
I hope we don't bomb it forward, and HOPING OUR MIDS look to hit up targets instead.

DeGoey rested to be available in this game for Pendles, and more importantly for Carlton.

Its not Pendles who we should be lining up.
That would only fire up Pies.

I think DeGoey should be bumped hard and as often as possible early, to get his mind off the game.
Whilst he's into self preservation mode, a bump when he's off balance could force him to land awkwardly and flare up his groin.
That would be a treat.

Mid sized Forwards Hoskin-Elliot and McCreery are good long kicks at goal.

They are mobile marking players
They need to be closed down.

Saad and Boyd will take the smaller dangers Elliot and Hill, with Schultz swapping it around.

Leaves Cincotta and Newman as the bigger bodies to take McCreery and H-E.

Weiters Cox
Kemp McStay

If McStay wonders out of the F50 then Kemp goes with him.

Hysterical how we often bag the selectors for going too tall but when the opposition does it, they’re gonna smash us…

i never think we're going to be smashed when they go tall ... but our defense has been really bad this year. 4th worst in the league. and we're short down back, which defies any kind of drafting logic. thing is we're short at the back, but we're not exactly fast or mobile, other than saad.

we get enough heat upfield on the ball, and it isn't too much of a problem.

dees got their 1st shot on goal Vs us with 10mins left in the first half. we need that kind of across the field pressure, with our defense.

Was that the Nick Daicos game? I'm still traumatised by Young in that game. But I never watched the replay...maybe I'm missing something.

We've gone with a pretty short defence for tomorrow, given Cowan has effectively been replaced by Boyd & we've dropped Young so we can't swing him back. It'll either make or break us, hopefully the former!

We can only play the cards in our hand. Our cards are pretty damn good but a bit thin for tall KPDs. But we should be able to overpower them across the rest of the field. I don’t think Young is up to the job, nor S. Durdin so I wouldn’t include them just because of their height.
I would be emphasising the importance of pressuring any kicks into their F50 and also defenders helping each other with blocks etc. Neither Cox who is no superstar, nor McStay should be in a one on one marking contest with Kemp or anyone else.
And then, with Saad, McG, Boyd and Newman running it out, we should have a very powerful counterpunch.
IF …we play with full intensity and support each other!

...and really, maybe the biggest game under Voss and Cripp's reign? lose, and we're screwed. win, and we could go on a run etc ...

It is now - if we hadn't lost 3/4 it wouldn't be.
