Plow and Cow are in the other paddock though.

I am hoping Walsh, Gov and Cerra get us back playing the way we did earlier in our run. We have gone off the boil a bit lately and gone back to kicking long rather than that short passing risk taking play with overlap that had us looking a million bucks. I am sure teams have adjusted to stop us from doing it and maybe with injuries the replacements are not quite up to it but it really does look like we have gone into our shell a bit with the risk/reward stuff.

In that case, it looks like the replacements for Walsh and cerra either dont run hard enough or not good enough to fill the void.

I'm sure we will see a difference to our running gane with 2 of our best midfield running machines.

I agree. I think Dow has done a splendid job filling in but he is not in the same class as those two. Re watched Gold Coast and he was a bit of an offender when it came to taking the easy option and just kicking it long to a contest. And I am sure he wouldnt take it as an insult to be told he doesnt run as hard as Walsh to create overlap and movement ahead of the ball.

This will be the 10 week in a row we go into a game where I think we might lose
What is it playing the best brand of football we have in almost 20 years I still not confident .

I remember in the 70's and 80's where I didn't think it was possible we would lose

Listened to Brenton Sanderson this morning explaining why he would rest Cripps Curnow Docherty Weitering Saad etc this week. Some good reasoning especially as we likely play GWS 2 weeks in a row

Players don't lose game plan in two weeks
Players don't lose fitness in two weeks
Stops GWS planning and trialling things this week against us
It's as much a mental rest as it is physical after longest season
No risk of injury
Allows others to get full games, play roles and prove themselves before finals. May well be hungrier
Carlton have proved it is as much about structure as it is personnel
Creates a better "Club" mentality

Have to agree

I heard that too but thought a bit differently in this case b/c we are just getting back a few of our stars and need them to work together back into the game plan as well as continuing to refine Harry/Charlie combination.
I would hold a couple of things back (eg might not tag anyone, would prob keep Newman loose rather than tight on Toby) but i would be focused on getting our game plan humming with close to our best team as priority one. I wouldn’t be resting anyone unless they are sore eg Cripps and maybe Doc.

I’ve said previously that I’m always nervous.

I’d rest Weitering, Charlie and Cripps as a minimum. Lose one of those 3 for a final and we’re just about cooked.

Gives a chance to see Harry play one out as the target too. Might help his confidence and form

I think Saad needs a rest. Played every game and hardly training. Need him fresh

Can't disagree with that. Thanks

Especially the highlighted line.

I’m going to be excited either way and a nervous nelly either way as week 1 of the finals comes around.
For this week, I’d like to win but I won’t be terribly disappointed if we don’t, depending on how and the circumstances.
I am extremely curious about how we end up going about it.
I would be very surprised if they drop Charlie but I’m happy to back the approach they think is best whether that be full dress rehearsal or keeping our cards close to our chest.
I would rest any players who need a couple of weeks rest - I agree they won’t lose any fitness over 2 weeks.

2 things may influence our approach this week if known before we play on Sunday:
1) If we know we will def finish 5th (or possibly even if we know for sure it will be 5th or 6th)… which we almost already know.
2) If we know for sure that will will/won’t play GWS in week 1.

I think we will make changes and I believe we will win.

Full games into Cerra Walsh McGovern McKay Kennedy maybe Boyd are vital. Fogarty should be back in

Many players are fighting for finals spots and many need game time. That should ensure a good effort let alone we haven't achieved anything yet

I'm really looking forward to watching this game anxiety free (so long as Lions and or Demons have won)

I’d add Martin to the rested list
