You are obviously not in a management position!!
And if you are you should be sacked!!
Show some enthusiasim in the future not our past failings!
Not how I read his post at all Trigger. I thought it sounded quite reasonable.
So far we've tried without success:
Club legend (Ratten)
Ageing successful coach who was past it, (Malthouse)
First time coach selected after thorough "process". (Bolton)
Caretaker coach who showed early success. (Teague)
So now we're going for :
Coach who was dismal failure first time around. (Voss).
I like it. Fresh enough to be enthusiastic but with enough scarring to have learned from past mistakes.
I reckon it will mostly come down to how well the club supports him, (fingers crossed some learning has happened there too).
Of those ones you mentioned- Bolton should never have even been considered. Playing Tasmanian football to a high standard is not the same as playing AFL. Expecting some of Clarkson's magic dust to rub off on a small guy with a calming/relaxed voice was just plain odd.
Who was behind that coaching selection? Who was on the panel? Actually, don't tell me. I don't want to know. And they stuck with him for years as well. So depressing looking back on those years.
At least today there are rays of sunshine. Cripps, McKay, Weitering, Walsh, Jones etc.
Re: Voss. I kind of think there is a symbolic parallel with the Greg Williams story. Let's hope it is equally successful with a piece of silverware at the end of it.
At least twice Williams tried to play for Carlton - 1981 - knocked back, then finally in 1992 he got to Carlton.
At least twice Voss tried to get to Carlton - before Teague was selected, and then finally in 2022 he got to Carlton.
Voss is home! Let's hope it works out that way.
