We are the VFL Saints in the AFL. I believe we are in trouble but more importantly if we don't get this right and start to rebuild the culture (if we can now), then it's curtains on the Carlton we knew and loved. Carlton never used to lose players that could play and it wanted. Carlton were the team professional stars wanted to come and play for success. Remember those days? Our supporters despised missing the finals for 1 year, now they despise missing out on the no.1 picks!!! It really is that simple.

I remember those days well.
Aaron Hamill daring to leave was a shock to all of us, it just didnt happen.
Sadly things have changed.

So in 10 years we are back to where we started ... at the bottom. 3 pick one's ... Judd ... meant very little when you combine it with poor trading of good picks (Warnock & Mclean) ... poor list management (Thomas in , Betts out) and some very poor recruiting.

I just wonder how many of our board and recruiting team in 2005 are still around in 2015 ?

Now I hear Kruezer might be going ... this would leave us very low in ruck stocks ... once upon a time we had four ruckmen on our list ... this cost us the best of the four (Jacobs)

If we don't build some structure and acquire players who play with "intent" in this draft then we will continue to fall behind.

That's the plan, and its already started happening with players who have an appetite for the contest in Bucks, Doc, Cripps, Graham and to a lesser extent Clem.

Players with an appetite for the contest. You forgot to add Kreuz. Oh hang on, we're letting the only bloke who gives a stuff, the only bloke who puts 100% into each and every contest he is involved in, the only bloke who always puts the team first, walk in the hope of picking up another 18 yr old who we'll no doubt totally stuff up.

Compare Trigg's public comments on the matter to Kreuzer's.
Notice how Big K changed his tune the last few weeks ?
If he still wanted to stay, he would ve come out and said 'yep, I want to stay and we ll get things sorted out in the next few weeks'. Instead he came out with this 'we ll see what happens at the end of the year' type crap. In the depths of our crappness, both Murph and Gibbsy came out publically and pledged their want to stay at the Blues. K initially did this, but is now holding back.
That's whos letting who go.

Any one going to call up SEN and thank Mick M for his 3 million he took to get us the spoon :) In the end, we should of made him coach out the year and not sacked him. What a waste of money.

MM was the best and worst thing to happen. Worst because he pretty much tore the list apart with stupid decisions but good because if he never arrived we would have been stuck in that middle of the road cycle.

Either be top 4 or bottom 4.

So thanks Mick.. I guess.

4 wooden spoons in 14 seasons I think you'll find the common denominator are some of the directors who have been on the board during that time.

Another, perhaps clutchingatstrawly, way of looking at it based on net positive / negative contribution of Flags - spoons...

Coming equal second!

Here's a novel idea
Start recruiting pure footballers who kick and handball really accurately (on both sides), love the contest and have some mongrel
Enough project players/athletes etc
