Apologies if this has been discussed - I haven't read all the pages in this thread.

I have read about the Menzel non-free, the runner and bounce that wasn't recalled.

The one that dropped my jaw that I haven't read about was Waite's on the wing. He tackled some bloke who clearly through the ball away. Both players ended up on the ground and Waite rolled over the top of him. Push in the back to Geelong.

Can't fathom that one.

Actually I don't think he even rolled over the top of him.

The Waite in the back was stupid, I've no idea how the umpire could possibly see it as that. Menzel should have been paid a free, umpires are too weak to pay a free in the final stages of a game. Seems unless you throw your head back and play for it it's not paid.
Bartell dropped his knees in the final minutes of the last and drew a free. In the end we let ourselves down….
Geelong didn't win it-we lost it.

Ffs stop being so sensitive. Mick gives theatre just sit back and enjoy it. No the questions arent reasonable, they are mostly tripe and reflects the poor standard of journalism. Alternatively the questions are designed to get a rise out of the coach and possibly invoke a response that will transgress afl rules. Such was the case when questioned about free kicks...the journos know that he cant answer it but still they ask. What should mick do?

I wonder what his demeanor would be like if he was asked something other than the stupid and/or cookie cutter questions that are posed every single week

I don't worry about the presser. He's been that way for 30 years, why does anyone think he'll change now?.

Give me a grumpy Mick than either Scott brother. FMD these guys are the worst smug winners and whinging losers of all time.

It wasn't just Gibb's best performance for us, it was one of the best midfield performances I've seen.

29 touches, but each one was a release valve, not sure of his efficiency, but it felt like he didn't miss all night. And four goals. Took the game on was pretty ballsy with his decision making. Excellent effort ... but what made it one of the best performances I've seen is it's the best job I've ever seen done on Selwood maybe ever. Combine the two efforts, and it really should have been a match wining game but for a few spuds we're surrounded with on the list who are dragging everyone down...

I had a stupid loud mouth Geelong supporter behind me on Friday night. When Gibbs kicked a goal just before half time she yells out "Where have you been Gibbs". Couldnt help myself and had to say something back and reminded her for the rest of the game how well he was playing.

I still haven't fully calmed down from that loss - or last week for that matter!! :hitcomputer:

Did anyone watch AFL Game Day on channel 7 yesterday morning when they were talking about the Carlton vs Geelong umpiring debacle?

After showing a slow-motion replay of the Menzel non-free, clearly showing over the shoulder contact, good old pea-brain Timmy Twatson pulled out his famous "non-biased" "level-headed" (long-winded) summary of his thoughts on the incident saying that it was "marginal" and that he, like everyone else in the football world would be even more disappointed if it had been paid as a free and ultimately decided the result. :garthp:

I've got news for you Timmy - no one would have been disappointed apart from Geelong supporters and Carlton-hating facetious scumbags such as you, you @#$%&! imbecile!!

I wonder if he was even aware that umpiring boss Wayne Campbell had already made a statement on Saturday confirming that the umpires got it wrong and that it was a clear free kick to Menzel?

Tim Watson really shits me like no other.... At least guys like Monga, Brereton, Carey etc. don't hide the fact that they hate Carlton. Watson tries so hard to come across as such an analytical, deep thinking, "big picture" type of guy when it's really just a veil to mask his own opinions and unwavering bias. It's even worse when he's commenting on the Scum's "supplement scandal". He's just such a smug slime ball about it all....

THIS. Mick seems genuinely pleased when he gets asked something intelligent....like a few weeks ago when someone asked him about the impact of a lack of pre season training for certain players. Most of the journos questions remind me of what you'd get from the U10s if the players made a guest appearance at training.

actually, we hate umpiring mistakes.. but not having anyone on the defensive side of a stoppage in a goal up and dying minutes is much less forgivable...

Hopefully the coach has that part of the game sorted for next time.

Mondays HS,

Weekly summary of how teams are going:

"Love or loathe the Cats, you can't help admire what they continue to achieve, and all without three top kids in Menzel, Vardy and Cowan."

No prizes for guessing who the journalist(?) supports.

Had a long weekend, largely away from the internets, so apologies for being a little late to this... anyway, here's an absurdist view of an absurd game - http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/afl-round-12-geelong-v-carlton-the-peoples-elbow-puzzle-page/
