It'd be offset by him taking LaBamba's spot surely.

Ask yourself, would you fear playing a team with Gibbs in it? Hardly.

Maybe the club can ask Gibbs for a vision for how he will live up to his #1 title...or even make top 3 in the B&F...or even make the AA squad of 40

If the market is prepared to pay him $700k, see ya later, I won't shed a tear.

500k is more than adequate at Carlton

..he will cost more to go to another club, that's just how things work, like it did for us with DT.. ..but we shouldn't pay market top dollar..

That's a good Robinson's hypothetical

I wouldnt be surprised if he ends up at Hawthorn.

I agree. I highly doubt he'll leave Melbourne. Journos already have the easy "go home factor' as their narrative, so they won' get off their backsides and actually investigate the options. their work is done. Just like buddy heading to GWS.... right?

..and Clarke leaving lions to go home for freo.. ..oh yeah..

show him the back door I would say - tell him he's dreamin'
then play him in the VFL for the rest of the year

Well MJ was very specific on this point - we should all say thank you and then goodbye to the board's Oligarchs who contribute less than 4% of the carlton's total revenue stream.

We must never ask questions or criticize

It is forbidden

If he goes he's thinking of himself and the club loses; if he stays he's accepting mediocrity, the club has already lost. That's the unfortunate conundrum of the situation. Are we trying to save face or win premierships?

The question is (ignoring money) does Gibbs want to stay @ Carlton?

If no, I don't want him staying because we can pacify him with dollars.

If yes, he should take a leaf out of Murph's & Walker's book & sign for less to stay.

ys they will fit him under their salary cap.. as they get 3 or 4 flags in the time they started in the cellar with us and raised themselves up...around the time murph and gibbs came to us....

meanwhile.. we cant fit all of our champs int he salary cap
last year we lost betts for nothing
i reckon this year we will lose gibbs for nothing

bit dont worry.... we will get a guy from another club in at the same money and talent as gibbs.

just a champion run club...

if i had th chance to play elsewhere for more and the club cant show me where its going .. id definitely stay at carlton...

Obviously he could be just making it up, but Swann said it on 3AW a month or so back.

..not sure about Tex, I figure he isn't on big big dollars so more suitable he gets what he is worth, but wasn't it reported that murphos signed at around 700..?.. ..not long after talking up the idea of taking less to build together..

I don't understand all the anti-Gibbs sentiment. We'd be a better side without him? please!!!

I'm not anti-gibbs.

I'm anti-keeping gibbs if the only thing keeping him with us is way too much money.
