Probably thinking that tweeting "mission accomplished" wouldn't be a good look.

Anyone can rattle of statistics.... but its about devising a plan to be effective thats the trick

Kick the ball to the pocket is not an effective inside 50....no matter how many times you do that.

We were getting shots and we stopped there rebound. We missed the shots. In front, on the run, set shots from the pocket and snap shots. We missed them all. Should have won by 6 goals with our dominance but we flaked out and choked on a large chunk of expectation.

..........and all teams have a board with key stats on them held up at breaks.

The results tell the story. No need to get snipy and try and pick holes in everything Ratts did.

We lost to GC. We lost to port. We missed the finals. That is all we need to know.
The coach will go and hopefully the flakes get weeded out and we can get over this bug that has been with us since 2002.

I think the worst part of the game was how we tried to rough up a team of kids and only ended up giving away a heap of down-field frees.
Failed at being flat-track bullies

Rubbish. He can't kick it for them. The players were terrible. We were 5 men down the way some of them were playing.

I highly doubt the next coach won't get us a flag soon. I am not saying we have to keep Ratten. Its a result driven game and the team has had a shocking season.
He put the list together, created the mix and it hasn't come off. Buck stops with him.

I really hate that reasoning.

The coach is responsible for direction, planning, improvement, standards, belief, confidence, structures, accountability and much more.

It is he who must make sure that they are giving their best week in week out.

He is the BOSS. If they are performing he is not getting the message across.

Your reasoning there is quite hate-able too.

If what you say is all it takes you could send anyone out there that is up to speed with all those areas. In the end the players have to live up to their end of the deal on the field. Our list doesnt do it consistently

Ratts is responsible for putting the list together so he wears the blame and will lose his job.

He didn't coach badly last night. He is doing nothing different to every other club by holding up a stats board at the breaks. Our players had more than enough opportunities to win contests, take marks, defend, make tackles, move the ball as trained and kick straight at goal. They flaked out which is the pattern with this list and the team let down the coach and the club as Judd said.

Embarassing.
Embarassed.

Clean out the place...please.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Pathetic heartless and so soft.
Skills...FMD.

Forwardline does things the hard way...seriously...not talking just about kicking.

Just saw Ratten's head on the news highlights....its all over now baby blues.

Want to see the back of all the coaches TBH...wouldn't mind Hinkley coming in with all his knowledge.
Don't want to rebuild, just a clean out and a flag.

Amen to that. I think we have the list more or less but a bit of a cleanout and a top up should do it.

The issue here is if MM does come in and we win a flag in a year or two, he will get all the credit. Just like other places where the coach builds the list and so on, goes and the new coach inherits a ready made premiership team. Scott from Geelong is a prime example. Parko 81-2. Ratts will be forgotten in ten seconds after doing all the hard yards.

In an ideal world, I never see Gibbs, Murphy and Walker pull on another Carlton jumper again.

Far more offensive than anything that came out of the coaches box...they have reached the stage where their complete lack of interest toward the team/club is cancerous.

I'd lean towards you being right on that one, but think I'd be prepared to see benefit of the doubt on him with growing maturity.

Garlett I'm not so sure about....either from a surplus to needs perspective or a fragile mentality one either.

I'll cop Gibbs. He's been less than inspiring since he arrived at the club.
Murphy had a bad night but has had a good season.
Walker was one of the better players after half time when he went back. His influence has been limited this year, though.

Nearly got banned for suggesting it as well

the thing that we should all have picked is when Ratts came out and had a go at the draw a few weeks back and said some sides had an advantage because they played GWS and Suns twice

Didn't that bite him on the arse big time

Can't we do both? I've never seen Carlton do a complete rebuild regardless, and when it has attempted one, we've had no choice. If it came down to a contest between a proper rebuild and another fart of a premiership attempt, I'd pick the former.

The monday club email was a bit more damning than usual:

"Without doubt we have carried some blokes into games this season. One minute they play well, the next it's 'Oh well'."

Here's looking at you, Gibbs... and Walker... and.......
