Ah ok. Definitely accounted for only another 21 other players and saw him in the first quarter.

Who were our injury concerns? Waite? Thornton has been a bit touch-and-go of late in the rumour mill but haven't seen any evidence of that in his play.

To put it onto perspective for all the Houla lovers out there I think he is a squib. Sure he can use the ball, but he pulls out of too many contests. That's like being a man down, giving them extra 50/50 contests on a platter.

Would you prefer the likes of Carrazzo who has a crack yet constantly chops it up or Houla, who is more of an outside player yet uses the ball exceptionally well. I think you can fit both in the side and a balance isn't a bad thing. But to suggest that we've lost quarters of football because Houla is in the side is just plain wrong.

We'd still take Pendlebury and Didak if they wanted to join Carlton.

Every player has flaws.

Get Saad.

Thanks for putting that onto perspective for us. But you're now back-pedalling. Answer the flower question. Why didn't you say anything when Fev played in all those losing quarters???

Your argument was that Houlihan should be out because he played in too many losing quarters. Now you're saying he's a squib because some time 8 years ago he went in half-heartedly a couple of times. Since then, for about eight years; ie the past 80% of his career, he's consistently shown his willingness to tackle, smother, and get his head over the ball, WHEN PLAYED IN POSITIONS APPROPRIATE TO THAT. As well as that, when fit, he consistently has beaten oppositions' play makers: Mcleod, Drummond, H. Shaw, Enright, Davey, Fisher, Hurn. As well as that, he kicks goals, and is by far the leading assists per game Carlton player. As well as that, your hero named him the best passer in the team.

He may not be the best player out there. He may not even be the bravest player out there. But tell me, in your heart of hearts, in all honesty, do you really think that both Pagan and Ratten would consistently play someone who was a squib???? If you answer yes, you're delusional or dishonest. In any event........... :garthp:

So you're all for Yazz and yet you're criticising Houla for pulling out of contests .... hhhmmmm, interesting.

Nobody's perfect Yazz and just for the record, I think Houla's roles as a defensive forward who can (i) hit the scoreboard and (ii) slice open the opposition by foot going the other way are, and will be going forward, instrumental in the Carlton rebirth.

That's not the choice and you know it. It's more like

- thohy v. Duigan/Yarran/Russell
-Houlihan v. Armfield/Joseph etc

Unless you see it differently?

I would have both in my 22 on GF day.

I actually laughed when I read that one, thanks woof.
I may not play AFL but I am man enough to put my body on the line. I would like to see Houla put on a sheppard with everything he's got to a guy weighing 130-140kg running flat out from the opposite direction to PROTECT his team mate like I did last game. I reckon he would cry! hahahahaha.

Yes I prefer Carrots. Compare just how much more ball he wins than Houla compared to what he turns over and you will understand why.

How can you compare Fevs era where we lost 85% of the time to now when we have hardly lost any games?? That just doesn't make sense.

And Fev was 10 times the player Houla is...

Wii or Playstation don't count.....sorry I'm being a smart alec. I think both you and Houla are good footballers. After all, between the two of you, you've played a total of 198 games at the highest level under Parkin, Brittain, Pagan and Ratten.
