I just dont get it. Why arent Carlton supporters signing up as members? I am still a bit wary about Richmonds figures, last year they made a big thing about passing 40,000 members only when the official figures came out it was only about 36,000.

Well again, it begs the question. Is it the club, the supporters, or a combination of both?

Don't forget, 7000 members who DID sign up last year after we got rid of Fev haven't signed up this year. Why is this? Has the club done any research into the cause of this? Are these 7000 just a bunch of softcocks, or do they have a genuine gripe?

^ I commented earlier that they should be ringing up those 7000 who haven't renewed and finding out why. I dare say a lot would renew with a prompting anyway, and they'd find out some of the actual gripes with the club

Yikes even take out Hawthorn's Tassie members and they're still way ahead of us.

Clubs that play majority of home games at G I believe tend to have more members than clubs that play at Etihad
except Melbourne eg PIES,TIGERS,HAWKS .I am wondering if we played
8 home games at he g and 3 at Etihad if we would have more members.
What do you think do you think the stadium stops us from having more members.
Essendon* is the exception but thats because of Hirdy and Thompson

Also is membership so important ,to me Revenue is much more important
11 game m/ships,18 game m/ships, corporate , reserved seating etc.
I would love to know how much money each clubs gets from MEMBERSHIP SALES

I'd suggest this would have been done, or is being done.

Carltons crowd figures are up by 15%

Is it better having turn up to the game and pay on the day or is it better to have them as members

I may be grabbing at straws but we've been interstate twice already which may not help especially with match day sales. It's a shame we also don't have game like ANZAC Day in which to package up. Perhaps we should do a Rivalry 3 game for games against Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon* only.

You'd want hope so, and hope that they started doing this prior to the last few weeks.

That would depend on who's home game it is SB.

Personally if 40K members brings us a bucketload of money versus 70K members delivering the Filth less money, I couldn't give a toss.

Bragging rights isn't what it used to be.

It's the crux of it. We dont have the "value" offerings of the other clubs. On top of that the reserved seat memberships are expensive and you might end in so,so seats. For example have a look where ppl with "premium" seats sit at Ethihad - deep in the pocket. We do not package things attractively and we do not sell 3 game memberships the way the others do.

This is probably why you see so many supporters not buying memberships and just buying tickets to the games they want to see. Just not enough incentive for many to become a member. Our home game crowd figures to membership "ratio" is probably higher then most. Many years of "treating" members "badly" in regard to sign up, service, seating options, "social club" etc etc have made the membership less attractive. I know a lot of people who rather buy tickets (and then sit in better seas than the members).

Give the supporters a reason, a marketing catch cry, make the target the focus.

I'm no marketing guru, but if it works for other clubs, surely it will work for us.

Our total doesn't include 3 game memberships, does it?
