Dont you remember BlueDave, no forwards.. noone in our half of the ground from memory in the first half... I think Ratten apologised after the game.

Ah, Ratts, Ratts, Ratts...

If you wanted to make a statement you should have dropped Carrazzo. He was less than useless last week. Robinson, too. He brought plenty of intensity, but little else.

Waite has been in our worst 3 players on the ground against Brisbane and Essendon*.
Thornton got smashed by Brown and I can cop that but he cost us 3 goals in that game when he had the ball and butchered it under no pressure.
Against the Bombers Walker and Jamo took the key forwards so he should have been a driving force in the backline. He was just a player against the Bombers and the final straw would have been when he kicked that ball out on the full instead of copping the hit and being pushed over the line.
Eddie start kicking goals and not points otherwise you will be next, 33% conversion is not good enough.

I'm all for making a bold statement, but this smacks of making scapegoats of Waitey and T-Bird which actually damages the club's chances on the field. Maybe. I dunno. I'm terribly confused. I need a drink.

already doing that ..and just as well.

Well by far the one of the worst moves the club has ever made... Walker, Houli, Carrots all played worse than Thorton and Waite last week. He may as well go with Bently again.

I don't mind that line up (although would of swapped Thornton at CHF for Setanta).

Some more leg speed and to me looks much more balanced.

If Walker lines up in defence the whole game, I will be livid. Robinson will once and for all prove that he is a liability at this level until he can play a midfield role.

Good luck to White, and well done to Jeff as he earned his spot. Welcome back to the other bloke.

Guys...basic understanding of footy clubs required. If they were asked to adhere to designated game day team rules and failed to carry out those instructions from the coaching staff throughout the game, then it justifies their omission. No one is being made a scapegoat. As senior players - Waite and Thornton would have recognised they put in below par performances. They wouldn't have been my choices to be dropped, but it does show you how far removed the supporter is from the happenings of selection (and always has been). For some reason there seems to be an unhealthy perception that paid up membership and participation on a Carlton related forum provides one with more than an opinion on team selection.

As an aside - very excited about seeing Simon White in the navy blue. A little concerned about his peripheral vision shortcomings but excited nonetheless!

dont mind those changes too much - people have been talking up white for most of the season, garlett is a good inclusion when in form and judd is well, judd.

Coming off 5 goals in the ants, I wouldnt have minded seeing wiggins in as well as I think he has a bit to offer up forward atm.

As for the exclusions - coming off a knee the ants might be beneficial for waite to find the ball/pick up form. Perhaps thornton is a bit stiff but no harm sending him back for a couple of weeks if we are bringing in an equivalent in form defender.

Why? I believe he has shown some signs the past few weeks and for the good of his career he needs to be able to settle in one spot. I actually like him in the role.

Yet cocky Carlton fans were expecting a win after Essendon* lost Monfries, Prismall, Neagle and Davey...

IIRC, Dal Santo and Milne were dropped last year, so why isn't it good enough for a lesser side to drop two players who haven't performed?

This sends a message like the dropping of Scotland and Houlihan.

Waite might be short of a run.

I''m upset that Hadley wasn't picked for Houlihan. :banghead:

Surely Walker at least played worse than Thornton last week. As a whole I thought the onballers were worse than the KPPs last week but then again Ratts only values contested ball and clearances - disposal efficiency appears irrelevant- As long as you get the pill you can kick it out on the full (Walker v Thornton)

Not sure JW is a scapegoat, as rumour is he asked to be given a spell due to lack of confidence

Thornton omitted I am more than happy with. He has had some shocking turnovers the past 2 weeks and let's face it Jamison and Bower have gone past him so let's not fool ourselves into believing Thornton is an untouchable and crucially important player

I think a lot of CFC fans have little idea what a very good footballer is - mediocrity has been rife at this club for the better part of the last 10 years
