Scotland should not have been on - just too many issues off-field with this guy. Let him settle down a bit before he becomes a "leader".

Gibbs on because we want him to feel very very loved when contract expires in two years time - he can play obviously, but don't tell me this wasn't a huge factor.

Wiggo - a trier and will always respect that. So is Walker with a hell of a lot more talent (and future years at the club) to boot. Just can't work this one out.

I just hope a new "training services" division isn't next.

I was thinking the same- or maybe they thought 'lets have AW focus on his good form-and there's plenty of time to bring him in to leadership group'

Obvious choice. Has many critics the club has now made the choice it is time for all Carlton supports to start supporting the clubs decision a new board a new vision hopefully the on-field will also change.

The press a now changing the way the right about us Pratt has huge presence. I hear Carloline Wislson a few days ago continually praising Carlon. And even Patrick Smith Today saying how the Club has gone from a shambles to taking a big U-Turn.

It is time for the Carlton Supports to unite it is going to be a big 2007 and even bigger 2008

GO BLUES :) :)

Not a bad CV for a Capt :)

Smith and Wilson can just go and @#$%&! off.

Gutless - their corporate bosses at Fairfax & News Corporation have got them toeing the corporate line.

Thats one thing Richard Pratt brings to our table INSTANT RESPECT - even Wilson and Smith don't dare cross their bosses.

You don't appoint someone into leadership group NOW because he MIGHT prefer to go to Adelaide in 2 YEARS (assuming he is not on an extended 3 or 4yr contract anyway...).

He may be a great leader & worthy of being in the leadership group on his merits. I suspect that is what happened - he has probably & simply impressed the hell out of everyone who are as eager as us (if not more so since their jobs rely on it) to find something exciting to take us beyond our current predicament.

But there is no way we put him in the leadership group because we need someone to represent the 1st year players NOR out of fear of him returning to SA in 2010.

He won't return to SA in 2yrs for the same reason Judd didn't return to Victoria & for the same reason Goddard is staying at St Kilda - honour and the fact they can tell when a team is on the up rather than jumping across to a team sliding down which is what Adelaide is likely to be doing as we are knocking on the door of the finals.

(ie. the opposite from Buckley who did choose to move b/c he had no honour & he could not gather that Brisbane were slowly heading towards 3 consecutive premierships while collingwood was heading for... none!)

True 17th.

Gibbs maybe a rookie in the AFL, but he has 2years experience playing in the SNFL, so hes like a 2nd year AFL player.

Hes been playing against men in one of the best leagues outside AFL, so he brings a bit of experience across even if he is a rookie this year.

So if he's a natural born leader then him being in the leadership group is a good thing.

Carlton don't have many leaders at the club at all. Only leaders we have at the club are Kouta, Fev, Big Red, Stevo and maybe Lappin. At present. The rest of the leadership group are still trying to break their way into a AFL team.

So Gibbsy and Murp in the group is a great move.

Does that rule out getting an answer from Malouf or Mitchell?

If either know the process then for sure that would be great.

Leadership and talent are not the same thing. Otherwise you'd just find your best player and make him captain, even if he's not a great leader. Wiggins may well have some leadership qualitites, that AW doesn't. That we don't know. Having said that I am surprised that AW is not one of the leaders. maybe, as others have said, he just wants to simply concentrate on developing his own game. He's on SEN very soon so maybe he will answer that one for himself.

Seems it's not that then. Said on SEN he was disappointed to miss out on a leadership role.

It seems a tactic to try and get as much out of this season as possible from the playing list.

It really looks like we will be going all out from all reports.

If that's the case we can kiss the 1st rd PP away....

It's a shame about AW, but there is always a reason for everything.
