And Pat Mullins. She could roll with the best of them.

I think Carroll has the talent but desire wasn’t quite there
Will dominate the WAFL probably for East Freo but it wouldn’t be surprised he gets on a list over here

I still think someone should recruit Nathan Cooper from
Werribee
He could help down back
Next year.

Jack was a little bit like Dow for me. Both had assets, yet seemed to lack killer instincts - as Keogh put it, desire

Anyone worried we’re cutting too many of the same position?

Yes. Let’s hope we have not misread the list. I feel we have some real strugglers on the list and have lost talent.

Yeah / Nah . I think we were treading water , neither swimming nor sinking . Think it was time to make a move . So its sink or swim for mine .

Very brave post season.

Temptation after last 2 years would have been to think we were almost there and tweak a bit.

Realistically, our depth was really tested and found a bit wanting.

It’s hard to see good servants go but the club is bigger than the individual and in order to be great it was probably something we had to do.

no, i think lord had overtaken carroll quite comfortably. and we're about to draft a future (fingers crossed) 10-15 year midfield player with #3.

Who apart from MK and MO played any kind of significant role in 2024? More a back and sides than a mohawk IMO.

I agree with this, it’s our bottom six that we’ve primarily refreshed, and hopefully upgraded, not our core. The list was a bit unbalanced in certain areas too.

How quickly we forget 2023

Motlop is the small forward we don't have

 sinners you are hilarious

Lets hope he finds a yard over the preseason, because he's quick when he gets going, usually chasing, but his first 10 metres is where the speed is needed...imo
He's still young.

Personally, I believe Motlop's 2023 was overrated. Pretty good for a 19yo, but wasn't a line in the sand season stating he's arrived, like some claim. Still unproven for me.

I felt Carroll was overratted too. His "breakout" game was after Doc did his knee in O Round and he came on as sub at half time. I saw the ball follow Carroll, landing in his arms and other than his goal, he didn't really win ball as an inside mid hunter. Never reproduced those numbers again, but he won fans in that game...oh yeah, and in the 2023 preseason when he supposedly "ripped" it up... I saw him at training and I still believe that photo in the gym with his veins popping out of his arms doing weights was the catalyst of his break out claims. ie judging a picture based on the cover.

Kemp is another who I don't think has proven anything yet. I think he's a tall HB. I prefer my 3rd tall in the forward line to be able to chop out in the ruck, as SOS does (but a bit better).

Motlop and Kemp have 2025 to run in their contract, so they better take the next step or they may find themselves at StKilda and Freo in 2026.

Not me. Had too many similar types, and players we hardly saw take the field, and will hardly miss ie Martin Cunners Marchy.

Marchbank replaced by Haynes...and Gov can provide good back up for Haynes if SOS plays CHB role.
Cuningham Martin role taken by Lord and Moir, and Wilson was selected to add speedand spread to the midfield mix.
Kennedy/ Carroll were depth for Walsh Cerra Hewett. Pick 3 and word is Cowan for midfield time sooner or later.
Owies played a lead up role which Moir, Williams, and possibly Gov to play that role.

Pick 3 and B.Campo, add speed and spread to our midfield group.

Have a look at the list profile; age and positional. We are in a great space looking into the post Cripps era with 27 players under 23yo next year, and our spine all signed past Cripps era.

Still need a CHB to replace Young
Still need a Fwd-Ruck to improve on SOS

Need a dangerous small forward to step up from Williams, Motlop, and Durdin. Fogarty is a defensive small forward imo. Fantasia is history. Cottrell is our elite running HHF who is unique and smart enough to cover running machines Daicos, Merrett, Ashcroft, wheras Cincotta is a defensive HF who can play a stopping role and kick a few.

Our list is in great shape if McInnes can make the boys Swans strong.

6-7 changes is normal for the AFL.
Add 3 players we were carrying and should have parted with years ago.

All normal imo.

Which of the discarded players would you have kept? For me, none. That's not a rebuild. That's more looking for improvement from our bottom 10, not our top 10.
