Gee there's some optimistic people around here re: Young
You can say the same about those with opposite views with the same conviction.
He's a divisive player no doubt.
But, whilst he's on our list, and selected in the 3 games of the season to play KPD last game we played, and he was one of our better players in that Final, he has some value. Doesn't mean he's the best in the business but all we have for a KPD role until we see how Voss picks his team in round 1 with Haynes in the picture.
No surprise he has been seen in a more favourable light than he was during the year. I guess Shit sticks.
We have to accept the view of him with both a glass half empty and a glass half full view.
He's the best KPD we have after Weitering, imo
He gives us height and marking power against taller opponents, something Kemp and Gov don't. Hence his selection ahead of them as KPD at the pointy end of the season.
Sure we need to improve on him, but he's way ahead of Gov and Kemp against the 200cm forwards, imo.
Gov's contract expires at the end of next year; he will be 31 going onto 32 in 2025. He's no keeper. Haynes may take his spot.
Kemp showed interest in joining saints and comes out of contract at the end of 2024. He's not a KPD, and no sure bet he will be with us past 2025.
Haynes is 193cm and an AA intercept defender; AA just 2 years ago before illness. He's over his illness. He's no KPD either.
He's all we have. We have to be optimistic in the hope Vossy can help him develop his game and confidence; play to his strengths, or he is over looked.
We know his shortfalls, and we know his strengths, and we know he needs to improve parts of his game. The optimism may lie in the chance he improves and develops his confidence, or he continues to show the form he showed in the last 3 games.
I can't see the point in the alternative, the negative outlook, until we know he's no use to us.
