Hawthorn was in a rebuilding phase as we were when we hired Ratten.
We are at a point now where we have hightalent levels that aren't being realised in results.
Thats why we are going the experienced proven coach route.
As did Brisbane when they went with Matthews, Freo with Lyon.

So I don't buy that argument. Hawthorn had time for Clarkson to develop with the team. We don't really

So.....who was the Port Adelaide player?.....and what connection did he have with Malthouse?

Unless he was related to Mick; why would the Club delay any announcement?........

It could be said also; that Carlton did take a chance on untried Coaches in Brittain and Ratten; the difference was that Clarkson has been a success; and they weren't.

No, the difference is Hawthorn interviewed all the capable applicants and awarded the job to the bloke who ticked most of the boxes.
We handed Ratten and Brittain the jobs without interviewing the best prospects.

I hope everyone enjoys shelling out their hard earned to pay for this fiasco.

As for Richardson, I dont know what he is so upset about. Its common knowledge Malthouse has a history of telling blatant untruths.
Richo would be better served to stay quiet, go elsewhere and win a premiership. He deserves better.

So we should stick with the status quo because its cheaper??

No. we should make informed decisions on the best people available to conduct the roles.
Last week the incumbents were quality people and they were staying. Suddenly because Malthouse makes up a bullshit story about Richardson, the incumbents are gone.

Richo is an honest bloke. Malthouse isn't. We've been had and its going to cost a packet.

I'm not a fan of how Carlton operates, but if they haven't announced a presser, and the HS has gone with it, then is that our fault?

Getting a guy with no credits to coach us..and then hanging onto him for FIVE years plus.. and having three extensions on his original caretaker..contract....highlights a shit board ...

And then sacking him and going after the only obvious coach out there... means were in the lap of the Gods...
This club has very little control on whats going on at the moment...

Take a bow sticks... you are a legend!!!

We have overrated our list IMO. The Malthouse thing will go pear shaped.

But we will see.

I don't think there are any guarantees but 12 months ago we were a kick away from a preliminary final which suggests the core list isn't that bad.

I reckon we've added more than we've lost since then and should do so again this off season.

Hopefully a change of scenery and roles (regardless of whom we selected as the new coach) will freshen up a few players as well. A good run with injuries would help too.

As I said there aren't any guarantees but it's quite a while since Hawthorn won a flag now and they haven't won this year's yet either.

They're hard things to win.

Oh... and this awesome Hawthorn coaching performance I keep hearing about got knocked out of the finals last year by a team coached by Mick Malthouse. A team who on any fair assessment has a few less stars than the Hawks.

We have Mick now, lets give him a chance. At the end of next year we will have clearer assessment. The way some of you guys are going, is spreading negativity and we all need some inspiration at this club at the moment.

Who mentioned an "awesome Hawthorn coaching performance"?

The negativity I think is less to do with Mick, and more to do with the club and the process. They haven't exactly covered themselves in glory during this whole thing.

Tim Lane was suggesting that we should follow in their path.

I don't think he was suggesting that because he thinks Clarkson can't coach.
