Bondi, of course the Pitto quip was just a light hearted dig. You REALLY need to learn to laugh at yourself, old mate!

I thought it might be.

Yeah, and I gave you a light hearted quip back.

Ah, the old light hearted 12 page essay. The cornerstone of all breezy discourse. :D

OK, I'll take that as your style of humour. Have to say its pretty strange kind of humour...."cornerstone of all breezy discourse"... do you know your audience?

You can't say I didn't go to great lengths for you and spell out, nice and slow, the numerous scenarios 2 rucks presents both positive and negative....and you read them....and, agreed with what I had to say. Its not my fault we lost with 2 rucks, or its my POV why we won with 2 rucks. I'm sick of the ruck situation we are in today. Pitto was one of the top rucks last year. Today, I want a new Fwd-Ruck next year if TDK is going to be No 1. Maybe SOS will fill the spot.

I'm good mate. I am consistent. I try and stick to footy.

But, I asked you to stick with footy, and drop the personal stuff, a while back, after you accused me of being happy TDK is injured. I find your "humour" at my expense very strange, and it seems you can't help yourself. Do you really think I am going to accept your sense of humour when I'm your target? Think about it. I don't find it funny mate. I've told you many times now. Come on, lets get back to footy. Try. You're better at that. I enjoy your posts on footy. I really do.

We might win this week against Weagles. I am positive we can win, even with Pitto in the ruck, and hope we will.

Solo! You sound proud of your efforts. Good onya and Good luck.

If the kid has desire in his eyes, you just can't top that, nor should you stop it.

I hope he stays on the winning side of the game. Ding Ding.

Anyone read what the mullett head mug Josh Weddle said about Carlton after the game.

Said Hawthorn knew our workrate was not good in 4th quarters, so they decided to make us tired from the get go.

We are so predictable. Really irks me that the minnow in Hawthorn have risen from the ashes to be better than us right now.

Weddle did say it about final quarters & agree GreatEx, thought it was inaccurate. It's our Q2 & 3 that have been diabolical, not the 4th

Reckon the last Carlton player I recall going close to this was Robbo saying the Dees played bruise free footy.

I don't mind Weddle. Seen him interviewed & he's no fool. Maybe it just popped out, young bloke & all that. Would love to have him at Carlton.

Hawthorn, a minnow…please.

Carlton should aspire to be what Hawthron are.

I don't know, mate ... the injuries were bad. but some of our worst performances in 24 came with our best (on paper at least) team selected. we won more games this year (as we did on the 8 game win streak last year) using fringe players and backups.

it might be hard or unpalatable to some to blame voss and cripps. but i'm doing it anyway. high performance and rehab played a massive role too, and apparently the turf at princess park.

i watch my son who's 14 do amateur boxing. he's part of a great stable of fighters. and when anyone in our stable lose, it's not a loss, it's a lesson.

the kids are taught to be accountable and honest. it's such a basic concept. and it's still one cfc just doesn't ever grasp or comprehend. and to be really honest (and a little vulnerable on a forum board here), the constantness of the club's egos, stubbornness and arrogance for decade after decade - it breaks my heart.

we're all sad addicts here. addicted to something that just doesn't love us back.

I get where you're coming from braithy re Voss and Crippa. No shame in that. Hold your ground if that's what you really feel. Not necessarily right but its a position you are prepared to support.

Yep, we're all addicts. Rusted on supporters.

You never cease to surprise me. A 14yo son. Congrats. I hope he stops boxing when the hits to the head start feeling harder and harder. My 16yo was doing a bit of boxing, but I put a stop to that when I noticed the hits were getting bigger.

I'm sure the club wants to do the right thing. I don't think we are far off, and our window will be open for a while longer.

Really important to fight out the rest of the season for more good reasons than bad.

Glad the surface at Princes Park will be fixed. A few have been blaming the surface for a while despite the resurfacing effort from 10 years back.

Go Blues.

i can't shake the nagging feeling of this: our signature through last season and the wins this year was team before all else. and there's just a bit of evidence out there, that maybe the individual forces of some, started to override the team first mantra. something was really wrong, maybe even absent in the last 6-7 weeks on the field.

i feel like it rests (at a bare minimum) with the leadership. captain and coach. if there's even an inkling of truth to what voss and doc said about pittonet's inclusion. that 1 or 2% shift was all our tiny little train needed to be derailed.

ahh! my son is a little legend. this'll surprise you even more - I've solo raised him for the last 6 years too. had to put everything on hold, but it all pails in comparison to watching him shine. he wants to go pro, and fight in vegas ... i'll get you ringside tickets if he ever makes it.

Could not agree more

Our freefall is a multi-factored regression. Some people (not necessarily people on TC) try and hold onto the single or dual factor theory (usually injuries and coaching)

I am soooo firmly of the view that our drop has been a weighted combination of injuries, form/confidence, poor coaching, odd selections, a persistent flaky mindset AND some unintended distraction/destabilisation within the group, especially since the Geel game

Each of the factors are anot independent of each other either and in all likelihood have impacted on other factors

Is our mindset even flakier because we're distracted by not having best players on the park?
Has poor coaching from a previous game resulted in reactionary odd selections in the following game?
Have we not had the confidence to deal with the weight of expectations which equates to a flaky mindset on the field (paralysis etc)?
etc etc etc

I will go to my grave believing something we can't see (something within the inner sanctum) has thrown us out of equilibrium (even by just 1-2% as you suggest), and now all those other factors have cross contaminated our opportunity this year

I'm definitely clutching at straws but maybe this is the year we had to have:

2022-first year under Voss was a success in a way as we were in the 8 until the last game (tragedy, but improvement on 2021)

2023-OMG!!, that Melbourne game and the first half against Bris IN Brisbane WITH all those injuries...was it a dream???

2024-Let's be brutal. We overachieved with those 2 finals in 2023. I got to enjoy it with my adult sons, my old grumpy mates and their adult kids. If you were in Lygon St after the Melb win, it was surreal...so, what I'm saying is that with all the disaster of the last 6 weeks, maybe this was the step back to reality we needed to have to reinvigorate the list, reinvigorate S&C, critically review coaching and make sure List Mgt brings in players that we desperately need (eg. last year with Doc down back and Jack working his backside off in D50 stoppages, we didn't appear as exposed down back, particularly with mids that seemed more in synch. It wasn't as obvious as this year that Weiters needs a soulmate KPD

RANT OVER

2022 : 11-4 and miss finals

2023: Disasterous start, coach on the edge of being sacked it seemed - Miraculous run to a prelim that we ended up blowing

2024: 11-4 and probably going to miss finals again

Really weird

Agree the seasons within seasons have been weird

Ultimately, we just missed the 8 in '22, overachieved in '23 and now copped a reality check (lots of reasons)

Like I said, maybe this was the mini review we needed (to address the "lots of reasons" above)...holding out hope rather than confident
