It's been a while since I've seen this much enthusiasm about the Blues from HS journos.
Probably since the Beast was there!

Go you good things

Great writeup on Marchbank in the HUN this morning as well.

He looks like he is going to be a ripper.
Any time I watch Tuohy, I have to remind myself that to get something good we had to give up something good.

Also remind yourself that Tuohy is 27 and Marchbank is 22

We also gave up pick 21-22, and got steak knives back!
Caleb is really good, and only going to get better!!

We got Smedts and Polson
Early days but Polson looks like he could be more than steak knives

Thoughts on Braydon Preuss ?

Out of contract next year.

Haven't seen much but looks a beast.

Depends how long they expect Goldstein to go for I guess.

I really hate the name Braydon though...

Fair Call. Its truly amazing how well SPS has done given all that!

No strong opinions either way at this stage.

I like Phillips. But Preuss looks to like he'd be a super longterm ruckman. If you could pick him up at a decent price. But he looks ready to go now. So can't see us trying, or him wanting, unless Kreuzer was to go elsewhere.

Looks like they're gonna blow their cap on 1 or 2 FA's next year so if someone really wanted him he'd be gettable I reckon

If you go by selections/non-selections so far this year it's pretty easy to see who the coach likes and doesn't like as far as the list goes.

and here I was thinking that selection was based on consistent form in the 2s and omissions were based on poor form in the 1s

There is nothing wrong with coaches liking players...there's usually a sound reason behind it. What I do get pissed off with is the amount of fake news we have to put up with about form being the driver for selection

Just enjoying the young talent coming through as a group....not just 1 player but several.

Posted elsewhere too....
Gee our 2015 picks make 2014 look even worse! Puts the pressure on McKay

(as the pressure will be on Kerr too )

That's a bit of a change from previous years when we were hoping to see a kid 'maybe' play

Looking at our list there are probably two players I wouldn't mind us loosing at the end of the year to help us long term.
Gibbs: if we could get a first and second pick for him then use the first round pick on Hopper that would be a good result for us. Gibbs has been good this year, and his experience would be missed but Hopper can seriously play!
Casboult: He's on track for 35 goals and there are several teams that could use a player like him. As a free agent, it wouldn't cost a team draft picks to sign him and if Vickery and Mayne were both worth second round picks then he would have to be too. I would only be happy to lose him however if Mckay is ready to play next year, if not we keep Cas.
Also, hope we can land Fogarty in the draft.

We couldn't get a first rounder for Gibbs last year and now you think we will get a first AND a second?

Yer dreamin'.

We got offered a first rounder, a third rounder and Jake Kelly. That was there final offer. Mark Riccuto said they would have been happy to meet in the middle, A first and a second rounder
