If we decide to get a new coach in 2016 I just hope we have a full interview process. No more just signing someone like we have always done.

Somehow we need to find the next Clarkson, Beveridge or Hinkley. The next appointment is just so important.

and the next guy has to have a plan & vision with the current core of this list.

it's light on KPP's ... soft, slow mids and no leaders.

maybe turning over a few plodders (carrots, curnow, ellard, whiley etc) and draft in and trade for some more pace and leadership and that hard rebounding counter attacking style mixed with sticking tackles & ball pressure of the dogs would work for us with limited squad turnover.

should have some dollars with judd and carrots coming off the books, yeah?

If we trade a few of Gibbs, Murphy, Yarran or Hendo we will have a lot more room.

The next three years should be about bringing in 6-8 of the best kids possible each year. Then hopefully when we are rising up the ladder we have money for free agency.

Exactly.
I don't think there's ever been a coaching position at Carlton that's transpired this way, so not holding my breath unfortunately.

Give Malthouse a one year deal and then appoint premiership coach Paul Roos for 5 years from 2017.

Can you provide a list of AFL assistant Coaches and their individual achievements in their respective roles.

I can't be bothered collating them right now, but the infomation is out there, and success hasn't exactly followed Barker.

If we had let Ratten coach his final year, we would "of" got Roos the following year. BIGGEST mistake.

I guess you could say the same thing about every other assistant that hasn't been part of a premiership winning team.

Just to set the record straight ......again. Clarkson didn't want Barker to leave. It was a decision made by others above him that had a wiff of Politics about it.

Totally agree, I think those of us who suggested this when MM was appointed were howled down by the delirious MM fan club. I didn't want Ratts in the first place, another appointment without any sort of process, but the idea he would do irreparable damage if he became coach seems laughable now. And Roos is way better than Mick and only wanted a short term apppointment.

That's all past, but this committee never learns lessons. So I expect we will have Voss as coach without bothering to look at anyone else. Why is it that no-one ever tries to poach our staff but we only operate by looking at other clubs and then lazily trying to get their people instead of doing the hard yards ourselves.

I didn't say premiership success Mr C; there's been plenty of commentary regarding Barker's effectiveness over the journey.

If we get Voss (and it is not obvious that a transparent process was conducted), I will dead-set not renew my $1k-a-year Captains Club membership. And I will make it clear the club knows why.

From whom.................the tactically gifted here on TC?

See if you can find me a quote denigrating Barker from someone that has been directly involved in/with him in the inner sanctum at any club he has been at.

These guys below, who put together the "next AFL Coaches' list, must know something about Barker you don't I guess.

Ex-Hawthorn coach Peter Schwab and 2006 West Coast premiership coach John Worsfold were joined by Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou, leading hockey coach Ric Charlesworth and club CEOs Trevor Nisbett (West Coast), Greg Swann (Brisbane Lions), Peter Jackson (Melbourne) and Brian Cook (Geelong) in the selection process.

There's very little said about any coaches or tactics at present C-man; the league is notoriously closed rank when it comes to this kind of info, perhaps the worst in professional sport.

Frankly, we can't pass much in the way of judgement, but we have every right to say there's a need for scrutiny. It's not a shot at Barker beyond the on-field results over the areas he's supposed to be in charge of.

FWIW I thought our defence improved last year in terms of the back six, but that we went backwards in terms of our defensive structures. Which part of that is Barker's job? How much responsibility does he have?

Did Hawthorn's forward structure improve or stagnate under his tutelage? Did it improve or stagnate after his departure? Did ours improve under his tenure? If so, why was he made defensive coach?

These are fair questions, and there are on-field answers to most of them, but his share of the responsibility is unclear because no one will provide the information...

I suppose we on TC are just as tactically gifted as our recruitment team is in selecting talent.

We need to get rid of the board. We need to layoff Mick. But you idiots won't lay off Mick and you will get yourselves a new coach and then the same thing will happen again. I guarantee it.
Blah blah blah "sack the coach he is a dud!" "they are not playing for him!" "His game plan is sh!t!" blah blah blah - how original, god give me strength. It's like the Matrix on this thread.
This is how Richmond continue to be average.
This is exactly how the working working class is maintained - get them to fight and maim each other without lifting their eyes and understanding how the structures above them created by the ruling class are the real issue. Quite obviously our problems are deeply entrenched by poor management of the club in general. Open your eyes you bunch of ignorant muts.

You both do realise that Jeanne wanting Roos, and Roos actually wanting to come are two different things?

Dont think we would have offered a "no pressure on results" AFL funded 1.8 million per year to convince him otherwise.....
