Our captain needs to be playing a role as one of those runners and not in the packs getting ragdolled.

just finished watching the game. not much to get enthused about. best summed up like this. this club needs more Sam Docherty, less Marc Murphy

The Solution has been said loud and Clear on TC:

" In order to Improve and produce a Team who will challenge for the Title, We must first Fix and Improve our OFF field operations in all aspects of the Football Club, from Coaches, board members to Toilet Cleaners lol ".

The Question I would like to pose is this " How could Our Club run in a professional manner and Improve itself When in fact it is run and operated by Few families who thinks they own the Club because they have invested millions of their own money into it?

Therefore, all crucial decisions about the Club falls within these people. They have no Clue how to run a football Club Yet they do run it like a Dictatorship.

I seriously believe We should raise money, now matter how big it is and give it back to those people and then get rid of them....

So sick of all the Mafia and under World Figures featuring at our Club regularly. Our Club is not part of the Italian Mafia.... Leave it alone and let us get it back where it belongs.

We can do an aceh style fund raiser like when they wanted to send their coins back to Abbott during the last Aussie Indo spat.
I reckon would be a powerful way to get our message across..
But they're not going anywhere..

Boekhurst...can't believe we pick a mature player with a first rounder and he's in the reserves

Yep - this club is never going to progress until recruitment blunders like this are stopped.
I can accept that sometimes certain U/18 players don't turn out like we would hope - however recruiting decisions like the Boekhorst selection (ahead of the likes of Laverde/Goddard), McLean, Warnock etc are slowly eroding my love for this one great club.

..will say it again, BB is not a mature player for football.. ..yea he is 21, but he's not seasoned nor experienced.. ..he is a late convert to the sport, and the previous sport has no real correlation to footy in regards to fitness or skills either.. ..he will need a couple of preseasons.. ..cant understand why ppl think otherwise.. ..give him time..

Yeah but he's a spud pick who should have played last night and is the reason we lost, even though he's a spud. Make sense?

Never understood peoples desire to smash first year players.

I have not seen a lot to excite me with BB yet, but I'll give him time before I stamp his papers.

I stated this a few times last year and I will say it again, we do not have enough quality on our list to beat the better teams. We can analyse and summise all we want and it won't change that fact. Game plans or tactics don't mean anything if you can't execute. Unfortunately, our recruiting outcomes have created a massive void between being able to properly rebuild and then eventually being in contention. We are in limbo. The worst predicament to be in. It is Melbourne like. It is early days but based on what we drafted last year, I have little confidence that we have started to turn things around. We have never bitten the bullet and sought as many picks through the draft to commence that proper rebuild. Relying on retreads and good honest footballers may make the team competitive but won't place you in contention for premierships.

As an example, consider our spine: Jameson, Rowe, Gibbs, Henderson and Jones/Casaboult. That is very ordinary and bereft of real match winners (maybe Gibbs sporadically). Complement that with a lack of depth in those positions and average ruckmen and you can see we need a 'real' overhaul.

Yep sure going to be a long season. The Tigers are about a 10th to 8th side. They gave us 4 goals start and beat us easily. Jamo easily beaten by Riewoldt. Gibbs had a stinker as did Rowe. Love White and Crunows endeavour, but we can only have 3 of White, Curnow, Carazzo, Bell, Cripps. I thought Cripps was okay. Showed a lot of endeavour and handy mark, need to give him lots of game time. I didn't think MM was as bad everyone else is saying. Thought he tried hard, but doesn't have the freedom he had when Juddy was at his top, and is not a captian, but we are a team of few if any leaders. Jones looked like he did at the dogs. Kicked a couple, looked like he might take a pack mark or two, nowhere when the ball hit the ground. Bad luck for Daisy, but it means that we get nothing from the first 2 years of his contract. Have to hope he is stellar in 2016/7, not sure if he still has stellar in him. It looks like we are years away from being a good team. Very disappointed Bucks wasn't playing. Jasckh (no idea how to spell his name) needs time and patience. Forget about the 'game experience'. The only thing Blues fans want is a side that is seriously competitive. I can't see any answers beyond drafting a lot or really good players, several with great leadership, developing them really well and then coaching them to make sure the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, should be able to sort that out by next weekend. We'll be lucky to finish 14th. So much for having to bring in a premiership coach just to top off our run to the top. How could we have so totally overestimated our list.

So we effectively we overspent with our 1st pick on a young player that despite being 3 years older than his peers is not significantly better, has less upside and needs a shitload of development.

Don't mind giving players time if they are picked up as 18 yos or if they are project players picked up with later picks. For early picks you want young + as much service as possible. IF BB is ready in a couple years time and given that most players will begin to decline by 29, we might only be looking at 5 or so years of 'peak service'. Thats not good enough.

We have this repeated habit of getting 20-something points up then losing the game of footy. We just never seem to kick those next 3 goals to make it 40-something. Ever. I know turnarounds happen to all teams in today's game but with us it's a habit. Happened under ratten, still happens under Malthouse. You just never feel comfortable when we're 4 goals up early.

I'm prepared to cut Gibbs & Murphy a bit more slack than others as they've had interruptions of late. Might need another couple of weeks. They just looked like we did at the same stage last year - rusty & underdone.

Thought Docherty & Menzel were good, & White for his job on Martin.

The forward line is just going to need a lot of tweaking & trial & error in the early part of the season. For this reason I think the first month or so is going to be a rough ride. I don't think they really know what the right combination is & it remains to be seen. Personally I prefer Henderson at centre half back.

I don't think we'll be as shit a side as others are saying...we'll hit our straps & be more competitive than that.

FWIW I didn't think Richmond looked that good either. Was a pretty average game of footy.

You don't want show ponies, but you don't want blokes who fail to abandon team instruction when a better marking or goal opportunity presents itself. Teams that look tactically stale are often harbouring too many blokes who can't think outside the box and provide a new option for the coach.

..in my view I partly agree with the end result of what jimmae is saying but for different reasons.. ..in my opinion he is an old fashioned chf that will create that will create for the finisher, but not the finisher himself.. ..he will still kick goals, but he will be the prime avenue into the f50 if we play him as such.. ..he will cover the miles, runs the patterns.. ..i'd like to run watto with him in a similar manner, and be kicking into faster more mobile leading targets inside fifty that can also apply defensive pressure and crumb goals off each other..

Hendo worked hard and was at the end of many opportunities to win the ball. If he was in red hot form he could easily have snagged 4 and possibly 5 goals last night. He impressed me with his positioning and presenting and linking which is part of the role of a CHF whether his name is Kerna Carey or Dermie...it just wasn't his night out. He missed many marks and opportunities he usually makes happen.

Maybe it was just one of those nights and we will all learn from that.

If we don't run and spread offensively on the G we are going to be in trouble. Plenty of space for a BB to show his speed and spread...isn't that why we selec.ted him?

Looking forward for everyone laying into BB and how he was a wasted pick, not ready for the AFL, by all the same experts asking why he didn't play last night.

I'm not sure if anyone is taking pot shots at BB gez. I'm not.

I thought he showed plenty to offer our team with his pace and ability to break lines to set up play further up the ground. He creates time.

BKB suggests he's not mature and needs time. The only part of that I agree with is that he needs time...but I'd add ...to become a star.

He's played senior footy in the WAFL and he showed enough to pick him over many highly rated 18 yos.

The MCG has plenty is space and is a home ground this year. I believe and it seemed obvious to me last night that the night was made for BB, and Buckley.

I think many of us are questioning the MC not BB.

BB has something we're lacking and that's outside speed.

I actually think with our current crop of players Etihad will suit us better

We are the most stop-start team in the competition. Our reserves played the exact game today. Terrible football. I'm glad I'll be overseas shortly and won't have to watch much more of this over the next month. Embarrasing team footy.

Interesting comments.
Some are bagging Henderson yet I thought his work rate was exceptional. Too often I saw him chasing Houli etc up the wing whilst Menzel etc were happily watching. Sure he made a couple of errors but he was our only productive forward.
Bell was probably our hardest at the ball player and Docherty was fantastic. Sure hands, courageous and great decision maker.

I thought we erred in playing Gibbs. Too often he coughed it up avoiding contact. Obviously his shoulder is still not right.
For Mick to suggest we struggled losing a 'class player" like Thomas. He hasn't been a class player for 3 years Mick. You can't suffer for losing something you haven't had.

Captain Obvious knows our forward structure killed us again. We dominated the centre clearances yet we couldn't capitalise once we went forward. Too often we rooted around with the ball off half back because we didn't have a viable lead up option. It compounds as the players lose faith in the forward structure so they root around with it even more.

As for the comments that the players are lazy or selfish, it's rubbish. they busted a gut tonight but skill errors and a poor forward line killed us off.

I agree. That's how I saw it!
