The mere fact that Rowe and White are getting games ahead of Watto and Bootsma shows how desperately weak we are. I do sometimes wonder if Malthouse is picking on effort rather than entitlement. Somehow this doesn't sit well with most of our list because for the most part they've been an entitled bunch for too long.

Malthouse's 2010 Collingwood team had its share of journeymen in there. Players who weren't top shelf talent but were 100% effort and good role players. We have very few players who have 100% effort in their souls let alone who are good role players.

This club needs to get rid of those entitled players and who won't put in 100% effort irrespective of whether they have talent or not.

As I was saying in the pre match thread, I saw Collingwood dismantle the drug cheats last week & thought we'd loose by 40 pts.....not far off was I.
I was at the game, they ran rings around us ...Hopefully we can at least learn from them. Taking away something positve from our demolition .

Main player i noticed not wanting body contact was Gibbs who look disinterested and certainly stood back and allowed Pies to get to the ball first instead of halving contests. Dale Thomas was a player i liked at cwood, but we needed the Thomas of 2010/2011at a time when we are a realistic top four chance, not DT c. 2014 with no zip and a 30 metre kick when we are a realistic bottom 4 chance.

I wouldn't be trading big K. His value is down and if he can ever be fit for a season i think he can be a player. He won't get the hitouts Warnock gets, but will give way more grunt. Warnock is a good tap ruckman, but we get little value from his taps and He takes about one mark a month. Trade him for a good pick, he came to us for two picks and big money, he's averaged about 10 games a year. This year is his best but we get very little value from his dominance at the taps. Might be more value with a team with a much better midfield.

MM is a great political operator, taking no responsibility for our pefromances, except where they are good, and offering to fix it all up if out stupid committee extend his contract, surely not. He has been a great coach, despite seeming to be an ordinary bloke with a massive ego that can't abide any criticism at all. Still Paul McCartney used to write good pop songs and the Stones used to make great albums but time catches all of us. The are younger, hungrier, more innovative coaches around, less motivated by the bitterness of the past. Roos seems to have Melbourne playing with way more commitment than we are, and hinkley has turned around a basket case with no money from woeful to a winning finalist to a probable top four side.

Gibbs played like a bloke going somewhere else at seasons end, just a pansy effort. Simmo flew the flag all night, Walker tried and Bucks has real speed and tried his guts out.
