saying on SEN that one Nick Maxwell won't make it on to the G.

Bell was listed as an emergency. Could his finger possibly heal that quickly, or are we playing around?

He is named in the NB line up :?

Gees the blues would want it to be very wet on Friday! We have a lot of slow runners thru the middle , total opposite to the pies who are very quick ! Would have thought Army would be a better replacement for yaz

Forecast has changed from rain to just a few showers. Doesn't sound like rain will be an issue.

Who's quick through the middle for Collingwood?

Carrots in, if fit, is a no brainer with Curnow out. I'm surprised Armfield isn't in the squad of 25 though. Not sure what the story is with him. The emergency list is interesting - I didn't expect to see Bell in either the AFL or VFL until after the bye. If he's fit, you would have thought he would have been straight into the 22 considering the conditions and he's coming off probably his best senior game. And Docherty's an emergency....hmmm, that's a fraction earlier than I expected to see him in the squad, but good news he's getting close I guess. I think we can say Armfield is officially out of favour.

And why isn't our wet weather specialist (after 1 good game last year in the wet) playing?.....Boots!! :yikes:

Trying to work out who Rowe plays on.

Jams gets cloke. White gets white. Rowe on resting ruck? Wits and grundy don't strike fear in the heart.

Would be happy to play another small in the wet.

So you would dump our best backline player who can play on gorillas when the opposition has two of them
And you want to add a lumbering ruckmen in when we want to run run run
And you would dump a player who can actually take a contested mark
You would bring in a guy who can't kick
Then you bring in another guy who can't kick
And you drop a guy that can kick

OK I see your point.

For a ruckman/KPF Casboult has done......well..........not too well. One goal total and an average of less than 5 HO per game.

I like a pack mark as much as the next fella, but I think it's time.
14 touches, 9 marks, seemed he did a reasonable job last week.

He did !

Would be our best win for many years if we could pull it off. Baggers have drifted to $4 and effectively given no chance at all.

You never know.

In Mick we trust.

We've had a late change nearly every game this season so I'd expect another tomorrow.

Midfield?
More to the point who isn't fast in the Pies mid and small sized mids?
They small forwards have got a bit to offer as mids. They have midfield depth.
The Pies tick the boxes everywhere ATM: ruck mids fads speed structure.

Cannot see a slow midfielder or small forward at the Pies.

Remind me of the edge we had with Betts Yarran Garlett and back when Walker was in the forward line.
Gave us the edge and put opposition defences and defence coaches on edge.
They were hot.

Pies have that sort of speed to throw around.

Let me point out their slowest over 20 metres imo are Swan and Pendlebury
They ain't slow. They have Elliot Sidebottom Beams Blair Thomas with genuine speed and goal nous.

Lucas Simpson Murphy Garlett Buckley all have genuine speed but Buckley is not midfield material ditto Garlett.

Having said that I think the weather will determine what sort of player succeeds in the conditions. Wet!
Of course the most skilful shine, but we are talking the value of pace.

We have enough skill and maturity to beat Pies.
I think we also have belief, which the Pies have in abundance
Gotta remember Pies were 7 goals down in Q1 and won by 4 goals against a good team, albeit drug affected.

Carlton to win in a fierce rivalry.

Truly believe its 50/50

I'm too am really surprised about the things you say about Armfield = speed tagged and goal kicker

In all fairness Armfield was elevated/ in consideration was when the late change came before the game and Army was selected as emergency...so he's as ready as Docherty if not more advanced.

I'd rather not read too much into it.
If Army's good enough and tyres a gap, he could be selected. I would. I'm not the coach.
MMs decision ..... :sly:

Nice....the sight of him annoys me...always is freed by his coach, and receives easy ball without an opponent.

I've never seen him play a bad game...may have been beaten, which happens, but contributed well enough for a team win. He and Fev matched up and Fev was too strong.

Brown would come in. He's not a bad late inclusion.

Just can't see Bell as an emergency option so soon after his finger injury, maybe we'll see Docherty out there if need be. Got ability that lad, I'm excited!
