I never thought I'd be saying this but I thought Rowe played a great game on Darling down back. If he can keep that up he'll be really valuable to the team.

The moral high ground, hey?

What was your first post in this thread? '"The Mick knockers need to eat some humble pie"?

When we lose the players are piss weak prima donnas. Shit list, can't play
When we win, (with 7 less scoring shots) its all about Mick. How about giving credit to the players you've been laying the boots into?

It was a good effort from all involved. Great leadership on-field, excellent work rate by the players, strong character and a positive game style and coaching effort. Well done to all involved.

Hear hear!

Do you mean White or do you mean Kennedy?

Yeah just realised White was on Darling. He must have been on the resting ruckman, but played well none the less. Some really good defensive efforts, even if his sole focus was to spoil.

I can't see us beating the pies but I'll take it if it comes.
We need to keep things in perspective. We narrowly beat the team who finished 13th last year after they kicked 1.8 in the last quarter.
The week before we beat the team who finished 15th last year after losing to a team who won 2 games last year.

I like winning but I think we should judge ourselves on player effort, coaching innovation and player development.
Lots of positives out of the game. Our mids played very good footy against a strong midfield unit. Once again we out tackled a side and our 1%ers etc were their usual high standard.
Murphy is obviously getting his body right and the 2 biggest bonuses for me, our younger players are coming along well and we're playing a faster paced game style which is putting more pressure on the opposition defence.
The key is to keep playing the kids while they are handling it and to promote others who deserve it.
Let's remember, Menzel and Buckley only came into the team after other players dropped out.

If we're competitive against the Pies with youth getting an opportunity, an attacking game style and strong player effort, I'll be happy with that. Small steps with an eye on the future.

BEST RECRUITING....................EVA!!!!!!

Seriously at the 10 min mark of the 4th I thought we were the sausage on the BBQ...........'Put a fork in us, we're done'.
I thought the petrol tank was empty and the fumes were all but dissipated. The 6 day break after a grueling, fast paced previous game had drained the legs. But no, something happened and all of a sudden we got a 5th wind and a sniff from Jeffy.

the last 15 mins was a stunning turn around.

Kudos to Jamo, White and Walker who were magnificent. 206 was just barely standing at the end but he also backed up from last week against the best opposition in the AFL.

And the cherry on top was Little Bucks. You can't not love a kid that plays with all heart. :thanks: Very proud of him tonight.

Regards Cazzesman

Hmmm.. So what recruiting are you talking about exactly?
Buckley?
Wasn't he a father son?

Great that the boys had a win, but I wouldn't exactly describe this as the George W Bush '' Mission Accomplished!! '' moment of the Hughes era recruiting team.

We had first choice at picking up Buckley as a father and son but still a recruiting pick, no? Not all fathers and sons are worth picking, so credit where credit due please :-)

PS. Didn't we take a punt on Dylan at #62 when everyone else had passed on him. Excellent choice :smoking:

As Mick pointed out in his media conference we lost 6 potential onballer rotations from last weeks game.

Judd, Bell, Curnow, Carrots, Ellard and Cripps. So a fair bit of moving deck chairs on the titanic went on.

Damn we missed Curnow on Priddis :hitcomputer:

Judd played 2 minutes last week, hardly added to the midfield rotation last week

Will do us good for the confidence. Bring on Collingwood.

No fluke

We led for the majority of the game

Say something funny and I'll laugh.
Read Tommi 's and Megaman' s posts for examples.

Anyway I stand corrected.
' From that one slightly fortunate win yesterday that moved us up into 16th position,
I can now clearly see how fantastic our recruiting has been, clearly the best in the AFL, and what a great position it has left our list in.
All those other high draft picks who got delisted were merely intentional smokescreens for the elaborate coup of recruiting a father son pick at 62 when nobody else competed for him.

To suggest otherwise must mean that you'd be a mug with no sense of humour who is probably related to Bruce Mathieson. '

Better?

I was surprised we didn't we pick a defensive mid.

Touhy got the gig and was terrible
At one stage got the Malthouse finger pointed at him

But he redeemed himself a bit with the goal

Amazing comeback and I thought we were dead and buried (like everyone else).
We were standing behind the Eagles goals and going spastic in that last 10 minutes, they were shocked and dismayed and we're dancing around full of adrenaline!

Buckley is going to be a superstar and Menzel is the real deal too, we still have some average players though, but it is amazing when you can kick more goals than points, what it does to the result!!

Thought Gibbs was rattled after basically handing WC two goals

Had nice stats but really he didn't impact the game much in the second half

Missed two shots and goal and handed WC two goals

Then went into his shell IMO

Many games are own by a handful of missed shots on goal or a handful of critical errors

Touhy had a few horrendous errors which IIRC two resulted in goals

Tough caper is the AFL

Truly a game of cms
