Menz should be omitted. Not because he played a very bad game, but because he is 18 and there are harder, more mature bodies available. If we want to win this final, we must give ourselves the best chance possible.

Taking in kids when we have men available is not how to win finals.

I disagree Duke.

It could be that 3 or four quality possessions could determine the outcome, particularly late.

I agree. Menz hits the scoreboard early and still has clean hands and a sharp mind in the last quarter. In between he tackles and shepherds. It's enough.

Most importantly, he has 'it'. I don't know what 'it' is, I just know that blokes that have it pop up and win finals.

1st - I think it's great that we can all talk tactics again.
2nd - I wouldn't have an issue with Menz playing but feel bigger bodies is the way to go.
3rd - I like Laid's so I'm a bit hopeful and biased wanting him back!
4th - Hendo / Waite / Kruez combination is what I have wanted all year.....have a feeling I might be still waiting though.
5th - Isn't great we talking tactics and FINALS FOOTY....yeah!

Did Menz have all 5 disposals and 2 tackles in the last?

As I said, I think he'll be a star, but we can't sacrifice a win for a kid who'll be there for another 15 years. He'll get his chance. Right now the team needs a stronger body.

With the possibility of a Judd, Brock or Scotland return, Menz drops down a rung in my mind.

I'd keep Menzel in.

Richmond look vulnerable against small forward lines. The small defenders aren't that great, and then you take Chaplin onto Betts rather than a tall that he can run off and create instead.

Any word on Scotland's status? Warming to the idea of Judd as sub or nothing at all.

Laidler playing is laughable.

Not sure which thread to put this in but as an omen who knows.

Tina Arena is singing the National Anthem at this years Grand Final, pretty sure the last time she sang it was at the 1995 Grand Final.

Menzel should definitely play. Smart footballer with great skills and the right attitude (competitive animal). I think he will thrive on the big stage just like his brother. Bigger bodies are not an issue he played seniors for Centrals in the SANFL.

+1 for Menzel.

Waited five hours today at Ticketek Doncaster, was four from the front at 1pm when the membership sales stopped, waited until 2 for the general public, got to the front at 2.10 and standing room only - not happy. Glad to see all those non-members filling seats. :( Allowing members to buy a ticket for a non-member on a 1:1 ratio for a game of this size is a disgrace.

I know how you feel Percy. I was online buying members tickets around that 1pm mark, seats wear allocated and entered credit card details and all and then hit submit and then big flower error. they might have sold my seat under from under my nose, thought the 15 minutes timer was meant to hold your tickets while in the transaction... at 2pm, tried general, could not get 4 seats together, only singles... trying to source AFL members tickets tomorrow...

Gotta agree with this...even though I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get a seat for me and my son (both members), you should not be allowed to buy any additional tickets for non-members.

If you care about seeing your team live in September, buy a membership. If every member has had the opportunity to buy a ticket today and hasn't, then release whatever is left to the general public tomorrow.

Seems to be the same issues every year but nothing ever changes :screwy:

For some reason (known only to themselves) the AFL has changed the timing of the public access to tickets. I'm sure that they used to give members all of Monday to purchase their tickets then they opened it up to the public on the following day.

Very surprised that they offered members the opportunity to purchase +1. That usually only happens when clubs with small memberships or interstate teams are involved.

I got 6 tickets right on 9am on level one, M7. Almost got timed out, system was hard to get into apparently.
Giving members only 4 hours to get tickets is stupid.

With the greatest of respect for the SANFL comp, it isn't a patch on EF day at the G in front of 85,000 people.

Stats prove beyond doubt that the more mature side wins 74% of the time. Playing a 19 year old in place of a 25-28 year old will greatly reduce our chance of winning. Richmond will go in significantly more experienced than us if we play him above stronger body. My point is that his time will come if he doesn't get a game this week.

But if he plays and we win I'll be absolutely wrapt.

Its not that simple, Menzel has class. We could be getting Judd, McLean and Scotto back which helps experience wise.

Agree. Dumb. Had meetings this morning. No way known I could get a ticket, but will try other avenues.
