CHRIS Judd's business dealings are again under AFL scrutiny, with the two-time Brownlow Medal winner being caught up in a probe over unauthorised memorabilia.

Judd is among at least 50 football players and identities who have been caught up in the matter.

Luke Hodge, Nick Maxwell, Jimmy Bartel, Dane Swan and Lance Franklin are also on a long list of players brought to the AFL's attention.

Not all of the people being investigated will be sanctioned, as it has been established there are varying degrees of involvement.

Current and past coaches have also been identified in the many schemes that have seen non-AFL endorsed memorabilia and merchandise, signed by the AFL identities, flood the lucrative market.

It is understood the AFL had considered suspending some of the bigger offenders.

Some players are expected to receive significant fines, while others will escape with suspended fines.

The League refused to comment on the matter when contacted by AFL.com.au.

 :screwy: :donk:

Basically the story is that some players signed some stuff that the AFL don't make money from......

Not a story that "bogans and no shows" will pay attention to unless it contains the words "Judd" and/or "Carlton" - the boys at AAP will have to shout the snivelling little bottom feeder Barrett a round when they see him next.

3rd Party deals are commonplace. Straight from the horses mouth. My old man was an executive accountant under Pratt at Visy from the 80s until mid 2000's.

On the weekend we were discussing the Judd Visy thing and he came out with a few gems (he's a Blues supporter).

"If you were a good Carlton player, you were being paid by Visy during and after your career. Players were still being added to employment positions up until I left. Some of them are still being paid when they played in the 80s.. Jezza, Harmes, these guys were still "employed" by Visy when I left but you'd never see them. Sticks was but I never saw him once. Visy paid for Williams to come down, not sure if he's still on the payroll. It happens everywhere, but it was a bit funny signing off on a position for a Carlton player in some back office or in the factory when you knew they'd never show up. The Pratts bankrolled Carlton, probably still do. It was magnificent."

Gold.

But don't try to tell me it's different to the Collingwood/Ch9, Brisbane/Devine Homes, Richmond/Properties (forget the name), and a host of other places.

Doing some research about the holocaust, it now seems there's new evidence suggesting that Hitler was actually just following Chris Judd's orders.

Yeah I heard that too and did you know that Juddy was the real gunman down at Port Arthur!

Juddy on the Grassy Knoll? Surely if you freeze-framed the Zappruder film he'd be there!

Yeah but if we had have won a premiership....

I see this as a (nother) great learning exercise. Buying players and coaches wineth not the premiership. I understand we needed to do big stuff at the time to turn things around and as much as I love the man, but was getting Judd counter - productive

Adelaide and Carlton - go to the Supreme Court and take down the AFL, it is a restriction to trade.. Big Jack wanted to do it, but didnt have a stadium to look after.

Judd meeting with David Galbally this week to decide on what action, if any, to take.
After the Tippett decision on Friday, legal team not so confident.

Journos would know those sorts of stories already, but yeah I'd be keeping those stories confined to the pub or dinner table next time.

I know people that worked there also and always saw Carlton players around, so they did actually turn up.

Actually not intereested in Juddys extra 250k a year over and on top of everything else he makes. He does ok.. not many people can wak into an investment that goes pear shaped and someone else reimburses him for it... and i dont care about the club or gambling extra curriculum business opportunities...
More interested in how this club gets fair dinkum about paying people what theyre worth and winning the next flag with a hungry bunch of footballers who will be well looked after anyway but have winning a flag as the main focus.
The fact that this club has a swollen salary cap with one eliminational final victory to show for it is laughable..

They expected a different Tippett decision? Is Simon Wilson assisting again? Or Dennis Denuto? Is there a difference?

Ssimon Wilson is a nice guy.. and served the club well.. but a good record for the club he has been unable to scratch together

Excellent point. I too share the view that a lot of our players are being paid on potential rather than consistent output ...

We didn't position ourselves well for free agency but to be fair, not many other teams did either. What it did show was that good players will be available from poorly performed clubs in coming seasons. I suspect the carrot of premiership success may be a greater motivator to change clubs (see Goddard) than just the dollars. The big story revealed today is that GWS don't have much room to move in their salary cap after just 12 months. If they can't accommodate a key forward such as Tippett before their 25 first round draft picks ask for their pay rises (and needed to play hardball to retain Jonathan Giles), they will be in huge salary cap trouble in 2 or 3 years time. The signings of Scully and Ward on multimillion dollar contracts don't seem like such great coups now!

I support a team commited to winning flags..not interested in what Chris Judd or anybody else is making in 3rd party payments and whats allowed and not allowed...

Thats not why i follow the club or the game... :screwy:
Chris Judd has done very well out of footy as it is....

Now can we have some kind of commitment to attempt to be fair dinkum about winning a flag or two??... thats all im interested in.
