Not necessarily. We're already bringing in 7 through rookie list/senior list delistings so far.

If Mick can get our forwards kicking like that - look out!

Not sure Barker has improved our goal kicking ?
Maybe we need a specialist coach ...

It just shows what a change in coach with new structures and philosophy can do. I hope MM has a similar influence on our team. I am a firm believer that we have at least as much talent as Freo & Crows.

Was thinking that last night, well all year actually....

I'm yelling for Lyon to get Dawson onto Tex Walker due to him being their best defender. WTF? Bizarro world.

Their only key forward was a half fit Pavlich.

Sandilands and Fyfe missed half the year.

Silvagni was woeful, but outsized and outclassed. McPharlin misses a game and that's all they have?

Crowley, McPhee, Walters, Spurr, Suban....please.

Really improved strugglers like Johnson, Pearce, Ibbotson and DeBoer...

Stephen Hill. Talented, but we reckon Gibbs can go missing. Need to put out an APB on this bloke, when it gets hot. Mzungu is another that sleeps with the light on.

Mayne was good early, and a deadly set shot but surely Walker has him covered as a forward, plus has more versatility. Ballantyne is feisty, but Betts/Garlett combination has more tricks.

Duffield is a solid half back. Dont think we have a shortage of them.

Barlow is hardworking, but so are Carrazzo and Simpson.

Mundy is a star, but a couple of guys called Murphy and Judd go OK on their day....

...and here we are in @#$%&! 10th. :hitcomputer:

Ratten should start to focus on his future, not his past.

I feel the same. I don't think there's a lot wrong with it but he's best just brushing off Carlton questions.

This should go in the Talking Absolutely Flower Stupid Corrupt Subeditors forum. I was listening at the time and Ratten said nothing of the sort. Way to beat up an article.

The Age = The Herald Sun + spelling - tits.

Shocking really how a good newspaper has declined so far so quickly.

YUCK.

Lets get this straight....

Ratts had Judd captain 5 years... and as soon as he isnt coach anymore... thinks the new coach should swap Judd with someone else???

Ratten is irrelevant

Isn't he just repeating what malthouse intimated last week? Ratten would never have taken the captaincy off Judd, unless Judd told him he didn't want it anymore. I reckon Judd wore the pants in that relationship.

I think Ratts is trying to sound wise and relevant through the media... Helps with the job hunting.

To be fair, he didn't actually say that, and if you read the article it doesn't even say that he said that. Only the subeditor says that he said that.

It went like this: "Ratts, do you think Juddy should remain captain?"
Ratts: "well that's up to Chris".
The host (can't remember who it was) then said "well I reckon the new coach may have some input too" (or words to that effect).

Nek minnit you get that f$@@$$d headline.

It's up to Chris??

Pretty sure Malthouse might have a fair say in who captains the team. The correct answer would've been 'that's up to the club'.

Well his game plan did revolve around "Give it to the champ!".

I don't think Murphy should be our next captain. He has been a very good player but he hasn't impressed me with his leadership skills. When the heat gets applied in games, I can't recall too many times where he has lifted our side over the line. Judd has does done this many times. I would stick with Judd until someone actually demands the captaincy. if Judd does decide to give it up, then Carazzo is probably our best bet.

Apart from Carrots,i reckon Jeremy Laidlaw is a good type who would thrive with the Captaincy.

Well, yes. You and I both know that. The point I'm making though is that he DIDN'T say Judd shouldn't be captain nor did he even ask whether he should. The headline was a made-up piece of bullshit designed to sell papers.

The fact that he answered a question poorly should come as no surprise to anyone who's watched him in the media over the past 5 years. He ALWAYS answers questions poorly. However....... a headline saying "Ratten Answered a Question Poorly" would not be news. It would elicit a response of "Okay, so what's news?" So the duds at The Age came up with a headline saying " Ratten thinks Judd shouldn't be captain" or something implying that, in order to have the likes of us react with the way we've been reacting.

That's why I stopped buying newspapers many years ago.
