I reckon Austin is exactly the srt of player we need to get games into - just as the pies did with Ben Reid a few years ago. Gotta do it now. we'll be pushing to hard for flag next year to be sorting out the list

Good point.

Tell Austin he has the next 4 weeks while Jamo is out and let him prove either way whether he belongs or not.

Let Bower get comfortable with his new running action for the Bullants unless he's needed.

I think Austin is more mature than O'Keefe and Tuohy, so I'd want to get a few more games into him too. I believe he will do well as our CHB because he seems to be a bit bigger than TBird, and TBird really is a 3rd tall and not a KP. But then there's the hint that Hendo will be played down back and Laidler coming into the team with Waite and Robbo.

B: TBird Henderson Yarran
HB: Laidler Austin Russell

Looking at that, maybe there isn't room for Austin. I'd like a bit more pace back there.
It depends on how tall the Tiggers will be, and Laidler seems to be quite mobile.

The girl i work with is a tigers member. She showed me a message on her phone... Jack Rabbit is calling up richmond members asking them to get on board and go to the game on Saturday. They're getting pumped up for this game.

So they bloody should be - lose and it's pretty much season over for them.

We need to be just as pumped - lose and it's very hard to make top 4.

Hoping that Waite, Robbo, Curnow, Duigan, Laidler all come up. All part of best 22.

Sounds like Hendo will go back and Waite. I have said before Hendo could develop into a top class CHB but I hope they keep him in one spot. Personally I'd go for CHF as rare players can successfully fill that role and I believe he can.

Duigan, Curnow and Robbo add real toughness to the side.

Who goes out? Buggered if I know? I hope ROK gets a full game though.

Sounds highly unlikely that Duigan and Curnow will play.
Looks like the ins will be Waite, Robinson and Laidler.

They did the same in Round 1 IIRC.

Austin would have to be the most overrated player at Carlton these days.

Fair dinkum, I have not seen one impressive game by the lad ever. Can anyone point me in the direction of a truly promising performance at senior level by him?

How is he overrated?? All I have read is that people want to give him some game time to prove himself.

Tall Tigers will stretch Blues
Quote:
RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick hopes to capitalise on the loss of star Carlton defender Michael Jamison in Saturday’s clash at the MCG.
With Jamison sidelined for at least a month as he recovers from surgery to repair a tear in his meniscus, Hardwick said that the Tigers, who are currently 11th on the ladder, had a distinct advantage over the fourth-placed Blues.

“He’s a huge loss for Carlton, he’s an outstanding player.”

“With Ty (Vickery) and Jack (Riewoldt) and Brad Miller, those three tall-type players, we feel we can get an advantage,” Hardwick said today.

No real surprises there.

Incidentally, this will be twice this year that Jack Riewoldt has avoided playing on Jamo.

If Brad Miller is the 3rd name they reel off, then surely they cannot stretch us. Its not as daunting as Kennedy, Darling, Lecras & Lynch

Austin/Laidler to Miller, Thornton to Riewoldt and Henderson to Vickery should be how we start..

I would even consider Bower to Riewoldt as Jack doesnt move around as much and is clearly sore.

We played at 70 percent intensity past week. Bring 100 this week and it's a Richmond flogging on the cards.

Russell to Martin, someone stop Cotchin and a Houlihan on Newman.
Game over.

In the sense that a lot of people think he is the goods but just unlucky with injury, but I disagree with the first part - simply bec I haven't seen anything worthy from him to mjustify the hype

Some really good ins there. Aussie being overlooked for White is quite a statement.

Strong side which should account for tiges.
