Reckon Robbo is very limited........won't last more than 2 more years.

Cachia has a pretty good kick on him and has a future.

Robinson was better than Cachia who doesn't look to have any mobility and a future.

Still early though. :donk:

I think both games tonight were a lot better than the crap we dished up 1st round of the NAB cup last year against Sydney

I like the post from the guy who said Gibbs was/is overrated.

Made me laugh.

Yup, a tad early in the year to be saying that. Didn't get much of the pill tonite for whatever reason, but no biggie.

I want to know how drunk Mitch was when he decided to give himself a haircut.

I saw a lot to be pleased with tonight.

a lot of more senior players were just going though the motions which is understandable.

Laidler and Watson - lock them both into the back six i reckon.

Duigian i thought was so so, but got involved a lot, I think the step up in pace surprised him. will be a good depth player.

Setanta, Thorton, your days are numbered.

Austin needs to pull out something huge to retain his spot on the list. Injuries may have robbed him.

Yarran down back was awesome - his pressure was sensational.

Walker will be a tease up forward all year. look out if he ever hands onto one of those speccies. He seems more natural up there.

Twomey i liked the look of - did some nice things, as did kerr.

Kane lucas didn't miss a beat - reminds me of pendlebury

Cachia has a few nice moments but i'm not sold on either of him and curnow just yet. good potential and mature bodies but how are they with pace? good potential on the rookie list.

watson's dash down the wing was the highlight of he night along with yarran's pressure at times.
I'm pretty happy.

the amount of masturbation going on in the telecast regarding how scary collingwood looked was killing me.

from the pies best 22 they would have been missing - brown, davis, didak, jolly, maxwell and swan - ie 6/22

the blues were missing - carazzo, garlett, henderson, houlihan, kreuzer, murphy, scotland, waite, warnock, (+ mclean) - ie 9-10/22

Krakouer kicked a goal from 3 touches and Lane says..........."he looks like blossoming and fulfilling his promise"

While you're doing that, I think 4thchicken forgot the obvious. :?

Who?

cant believe I missed him... - just goes to prove the point that we were missing a few players lol

I preferred duigan to laidler (though he was quite good too) - so at this stage, we've 'found' 3 new backmen for the 22 - yarran, watson and duigan/laidler

walker & lucas showed a lot of good signs.

casboult got to the right spots but things just didnt happen - think the pace of the game was a bit quick for him (1st ever game in the ones?)

curnow looked good for a short period but then went unsighted for the rest of the match

Early days but we seem to have done extremely well from the draft/trade this year - watson, duigan, laidler, twomey all seem to be top 30 players (ie first 22 or depth).

Watson might not be physically ready but imho, we should definitely play him in the 22 for most of the season to fast track his development. He adds something that we just dont have atm (a long penetrating kick)

Curnow is good for pace, just whether he can stand up in the tackle at this level. Cachia surprised me, but he is slow.

I liked what I saw from Watson and Laidler.
Warnock looked good against Richmond and Yarran's intensity impressive down back.
Bower and Hampson were both a little disappointing I thought.

hmmm..think you might have missed a little player there.
Hint....starts with a 'J'....rhymes with Thud.
So that would be..10/22?

Yep. If he's not in the team by Round 1 then he's definitely going!

It's pretty hard to take much out of two 40 minute games with players continually going on and off and half the side missing to begin with.

However:

Still reckon Carlos was awful though.
Levi fumbled a lot, possibly nerves.
Didn't even notice that Hampson played.
Watson displayed some very smart play including a roving his own spoil and neatly passing it off to someone (who of course bombed it long to Eddie Betts in a 2-on-1 :donk:)
WTF was Jamo doing up forward, seriously.
Lucas pretty cool under pressure.

As bad as he was, he was better than Gibbs.

Who cares?

Carlton had to make a move with O'hAilpin down. Collingwood were praised for trialling O'Brien up forward. Yet Jamison actually got a touch on Tarrant and showed that he could lead. Knocking that move is as funny as criticising Hampson and Gibbs for playing half a game of footy in February. The only thing we should care about is that the first, second and third year players showed something.

wouldnt say we've seen the best of him but I think unless his improvement is in leaps and bounds then he wont be in the team by the end of the season. No disgrace in that though...
