BOG in the Ants 2 weeks ago and serviceable last week from just about all reports as well. Probably didn't do himself any good getting chucked out of a bar.
Love him or hate him, at least he gives it 100% and he is a goalkicker. He'll pay his way OK.

We've looked better with Garlett, Betts, Yarran and Houla as are small/medium forwards. However, I'm glad to see Robbo back in the side. One of my favourite players. Love his aggression at the ball and the man. Maybe they should slot him into half back, where Lucas has been playing.

..reckon he'll play across the HFF, and rush the square at center bounces hamill style.. ..seems to be his M.O..

Who did you want?

Browne - has done not much in the past year

Him. He is clean enough by foot when in space and has some versatility about him. Offers more at AFL level than Robinson at present.

If he gets near the ball 15 times @ 75% game time.

this is a massive test (again) for us.

1. they are close to the side that played in the GF not two years ago
2. they have been smashed pillar to post in the last week when the media hasnt been talking about cats v pies
3. they have been able to beat us the last few times fairly easily

the reason why i think we can win though

1. we are a far better side than we where in the past
2. our forward line will rip theres to shreads. Expect Setanta's little helpers to run riot IMO
3. our midfield, is in better form than theirs. They have a good midfield, i just dont think they are playing well
4. the rucks. with only one decent ruckmen for the Hawks, who is new to the caper, we should win this comfortably.

about the only reason i can see us losing, is if our midfield and forward line doesnt have the defensive game up to scratch and let the likes of Roughhead/Franklin go stupid. Im not worried about Rilio at all. I think Armifield has his measure and then some TBH (Armfield has come on so impressively this year)

carlton win, by any is all that matters.

I have a feeling the good Hawthorn will show up..
In years gone past that would mean a belting but these days when the good Carlton show up, we can beat anyone.

Good point. I'm finding it a bit funny that everyone says that the Cat's will win the flag now that they've beaten Collingwood. We've beaten the Cats the last two times easily, and gave the Aints their biggest ever loss under Lyon. We're improving all the time, and I'd say the 17th isn't too far away.

Just a heads up in case you've missed my training report - no Houlihan. Browne and Anderson both looked sharp this morning.

Perhaps a similar pattern to the Aints then ? And without that buffoon who missed the unmissable, we should be a bigger chance. Injuries may mean it'll be close though.

Houla is a big loss. We should still win easily.

It'll have to be Anderson for Houla now. Could have considered Kerr had Browne been brought in.

Simon White looked good to go. I have a strong feeling based on what I saw this morning that Joey will get the nod for tomorrow.

Hoops would be a big loss. This is a real danger game. Our 3rd match in 13 days (including 1 interstate trip) against a side that contains genuine match winners and has been under the pump in the media. The Dawks will come out hard. It's a big test for our boys tomorrow...

If Hoops doesn't play, I hope it's Joey that comes in. It might be just about his last chance. We need him to tackle strongly and keep up the defensive pressure. Offensively, I hope he keeps it simple early, but takes on the game at every opportunity once he's settled. Good luck Joey!

As ever, the game will be won and lost in the midfield. We need to (and should) control the ruck. I'm concerned about Judd being our only real inside midfielder - this is a game where the hard bodies of a fit (& in form) Brock or Hadley would have been very handy. Mitchell usually kills us in close. Carrots, Scotland, Simmo, Murphy & Gibbs will all have to be up and about...

Our backline will be in for a long day if their midfield supplies enough quality ball to Buddy, Roughy and Rioli. No offence to Jamo, T-Bird, JR, AJ, Armfield & White, but there still has to be question marks against our backline if put under real pressure against quality opposition. I dare say we'll get numbers back.

Up forward, Setanta and his helpers have reacted OK to the attention (from supporters, media and opposition) so far, but it will continue to be a challenge for them as the season goes on. It'd be a massive bonus if Hendo and/or Robbo can come in and hit the scoreboard to take off some of the pressure...

I really, really want to beat this mob. Clarkson's men have bullied us for about 5 years. I'm sick of it. They snuck over the line against us last year, but I hope we can put them away this time. A big win to us tomorrow would effectively end their season. Another step towards redemption...

Nice to see a 4th round pick in the mix after only 9 rounds. Hughes is doing something right.
