We just have to work towards putting in a consistent hardened performance every week.

Get the most out of our guys.

I will be there, smash them boys.

Given that he's only 20 and at most you've seen him play in 5 games...what could they be?

Is there something you were expecting to see from him that you haven't?

Fev at 20y.o was a banana that almost got sacked from the club for being no good. Carey really didnt do much untill he was 21.

He needs at least another two years.

In a similar boat with Lachie Hansen going into his third year and hasnt set the world on fire, but most likely will maybe.

Your Kreuzer types only come around once a decade.

Hendo needs patience. He'll come good.

Why?

How many other AFL 196cm players who are 20 yrs old and have played 15 games (most in defence) have done much more than he has at the same time. Probably about 1% of them all in the past 20 yrs.

Wonder if the MC will try and squeeze Wiggins in. Bit of grunt and leadership.

Henderson's really impressed me. Hopefully we will persist with him as a leading CHF which appears his natural game instead of trying to turn him into a full forward.
Give him a bit of time and he'll be taking 10-12 marks a game up the ground. Rattens challenge will be to structure a full forward line capable of finishing off his hard work. I still see Austin as the possible workhorse who will give a contest close to goal and create crumbs for Eddie and co. He's got the frame for it and the aggression. He just needs time to get fit and put on some size.

to date hendo has demonstrated an apetite to present and make a contest.

if a 20 year old with natural ability continues to work hard, then we have a absolute future champion on or hands.

I think hat side of Cazz's will be pretty right. Maybe not everybody in those possies but they would be pretty much my best 22 available with maybe Hadley for Mclean or Garlett.
I'd love to see Wiggo get a game but it's harder every year to put him in and that's how it should be. If Murphy doesn't play, mabe Wiggo or Lucas...

"Carey really didnt do much untill he was 21"

WOW, some statement!

Carey was 17 (nearly 18) when he dislocated a shoulder in a 1989 practice match before he had played senior VFL. In 1991 he badly injured his other shoulder.

Given he won North's B&F in 1992 (he turned 21 at the end of May that year) and was appointed Captain for season 1993 when he was 21 (and won the B&F again) I'd suggest he was a fair way ahead of Lachie at a similar stage.

I think Lachie can be a very good player but any comparison to Carey is ludicrous.

Given that the forecast is 29c for Thursday, do you put in a harder body like Wiggins or Hadley for Garlett? I'm liking the idea of hitting them hard, given that they are a young side and don't have the pre seasons behind them that some of our guys do. Is Houlihan, Yarran & Garlett perhaps one too many? If it comes off, it will be exciting to watch.

Is Lucas a chance to play?

am pretty excited for Setanta this year. I really think we'll see him flourish in a Fev-less forward line. plenty of contested footy, and crumbs for Yarran, Betts and Garlett

Isn't that kind of the point - even the greatest CHF of the last 20 years hadn't done that much at the age of 20, so why are people on Lachie's case when he's only 20? No one has said he's the next Carey as far as I can see.

Same for me except I would swap Garlett for Lucas.

Should cool down pretty well by evening considering it's autumn.
Has there been a longer few days till first game ever??
Feels like one of those dreams where you try to run but your legs won't move.
C'mon Thursday....can't wait to see our boys wth ripper smiles at the end of the game....
