Houla was breaking tackles, the bigger body is paying dividends

Mclaren had the least disposals but had a couple of nice hit outs

We looked a bit quicker - simmo and eddie shoed some toe

Waite is the next big thing - Carey reckons

Stevens second half - ensured the win

Livingstons game on Neitz will be under rated....I thought he did very well.

AW showed some kouta skills tonight , saw a couple of one handed swoops

Barring injury, Murph has to take out the NRS, will be nominated this week

Total team effort- even the Fox Footy guys all admitted they couldn't spot any passehgers, Pagan agreed - he was very very happy with the team effort .

and now 3 wins in a row................

We played intense, committed footy for FOUR quarters.

How sweet it is!

Walker started slow but really turned it on after half time with this second efforts, chasing, spoiling and link play IMO. Kicking improved out of sight too, only a handful of clangers in the first half I'd say.

Simmo and Murph and 200 game players, Bentick added spark out of the centre in the time he was on, and Scotland the brave with Houlihan were awesome.

Fev was unbelievable, super game and did you see him take down pickett in the last quater that was awesome, best on ground Fev. The Fev is Back

Murphy was super, 17 touches just an awesome game

Lappin was awesome and so was stevo and scotty.

Livo looked solid, with strong marking and no iffy disposals.

There's a big positive that I'll leave to the more analytical - game plan worked. And we were all over theres - pressuring the soft short option left them with nothing but going long. Our continual use of a short option rather than going to a contest may require a Foxtel viewing : )

Here's some other positives:
* Run from defence
* Key players in form, many of which were young, dominating their positions
* Proper and effective tackling throughout the lines
* Fev's chase of Pickett had me in stitches
* Kouta, Stevens (despite stats) weren't dominant yet we still won

And...

first time since Round 3, 2004 that we are in the TOP 8!

The big positive.....hard, committed, passionate football!! That's all I want to see and that's what we got today. "Value for money". That's the thing I've been critical of and I hope today was the start of a "new era" in that facet of their game, win, lose or draw! If that continues the wins will eventually follow.

First time we've won round 1since we come from well behind to beat Freo at Subiaco by a point in 2001. Something about that has to be promising.

Dare I say Ryan Houlihan's game!

I was about to condemn him early in the first half after one poor effort but I bit my tongue. Thankfully he came back hard and looked very good delivering ball as only an on song Houlihan can do at Carlton.

Great game Ryan!

Fevola's chase on Pickett was brilliant! :)

I love that game. I was watching the scores on-line up until half time, then went to a 21st. 20 $1 beers later, I crashed out, woke up, logged on and was so surprised we'd won. Hangover over!!

Loving it. :D

The win we needed, no better way to open the season than to leave everyone praising our effort.

Poor bugger needed a sit down and cup of tea afterward though. Never seen Fev run so much.

Ginseng? I'd offer a cup to the sanctimonious knob nose, but it would calm him down too much.

Deluca taking a one grab mark! :-D :-D
A competitive and even team performance.
Fevola playing and running his arse off despite not being 100% with his groin injury.

Looking forward to and hoping Bower, Kennedy, Edwards, Russell, Hartlett, Blackwell and Setanta step up to add depth and some excitement. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Kennedy lining up alongside Waite and Fisher in the forward line. 8)

Big positive is reading dannyboy post like this.

He's been so depressing for the last 4 years that some at the CLub say he's directly responsible for losing us about 10,000 members.
