That Elliott interview was car crash TV at its best (Worst?). It was so horrible you had to keep watching.

He sounded like a drunk, and I found it hard to not laugh as he went on...and on...and on...it was shocking.

Oh, was this Elliott guy that bloke with the big nose that Channel Eddie interviewed at half time. I wondered who that bloke was, figured he was just another face in the crowd.

Fid, I was one of those who hated what he did to our club in his last years, and hated his repulsive and arrogant behaviour but was willing to grant him some respect for the work he did in the good Carlton years under his reign.

But every time I hear or see him regarding any news issue involving him (and especially last night) I dont have much left but to despise this bloke. He brought nothing but embaressment to Carlton last night and is completely irrelevant to our club nowadays.

Ch.9 love trashy TV though so I am not surprised that he was on. Pricks!!!

Gee....

You and me share the same thoughts.......

I say again although I wanted you to win.....

But after watching Elliott I did have second thoughts

a few years ago I hated your club because of him, and him only....

Your club is so much better without him IMO

Cheers

Fid

Elliott is football's version of Neil Harvey.

If you want a headline, Jack is - in modern football terms - your go-to man

Spot on BH.
In the past I called him Carltons version of Bruce Ruxton.
I dont blame the media, their job is to get headlines and induce controversy.
If he didnt continually give them controversial comments, they wouldnt interview him.
He is an irrelevant old fool struggling with his insignificance.

We are stuck with McGuire and Channel 9 constantly dragging Elliot back up to the microphone to make some stupid statement. The guy is irrelevent, they love him cause they know he'll say something stupid. We have no hope of seeing the back of this bloke until McGuire and Channel 9 lose control of footy telecasts. I didn't mind nor care when they showed him in the crowd (he has every right to go tot he footy like anyone), but why talk to him - just to upset and anoy the bulk of Carlton supporters.

Fully agree. It's funny how we don't get to hear regular interviews on channel 9 with Alan McAlister!

That's exactly what I was thinking at the time.
Why can't Eddie just let it go - Its boring TV. Jack is bad PR for our club while we are in the process trying to get new sponsers and members on board

Good TV is Jack and Eddie knows it, so why not crank jack up a bit, buy him a drink and then interview him at halftime when he is juiced up and ready to go. It was pathetic viewing really and Elliott peformed like a hapless senile old man...Tony Jones is a good little yes boy as well and thanks for telling us Tony that fans were calling for Jack to come back and then pulling silly faces while Elliott was talking..
In fact the whole setup at Channel Eddie is sickening and you get fed up with people getting used up to provide entertainment....even a shonk and crook like Elliott...I guess jack will be dragged back onto the footy show if we go through a rough patch during the year just so Eddie can make light of us...oh and Sam will have some fun at Barbs expense as usual....

I'm so glad I didn't see it.

Interesting article by Jake Niall in today's Age on the rebirth of the Carlton brand:

"John Elliott surfaced in a half-time interview in which he remained both true Blue, unrepentant and true to his cartoonish caricture".

Eddie you are so transparent - forget interviewing a genuine supporter who had stuck by the club during its darkest days. Far better as Elwood said to get a juiced up Jack to be the buffoon. Stefchook I couldn't agree more about not seeing or hearing from McCalister.

Yes it was.
Elliott's got no credibility left amongst the football world and by the replies to this thread show, if the Tony Jones and his cronie media buddies keep going to him for a "story" they'll lose more credibility than they already have. NOBODY wins with this bullshit.

When I saw the interview at half time of the game, I thought what a sad, bitter blithering idiot John Elliot has become.....blaming Carlton's financial situation of writing off a stand that he wanted built cause he was too stubbon to move from Optus years ago on Ian Collins.....yeah John....it's ALL Collo's fault!!! Don't bother coming to the last game at Optus cause I won't be able to decide whether to boo you or laugh at you.

Yeah I have no doubt there will be passionate Elliott supporters out there....

Fair enough.... as far as you are concerned

But you lot must move on IMO

I have mentioned my thoughts about him enough....

I used to do work for the ACC, and maybe that's way I just have a total dislike for him......

Nice to know their impartial

Even Garry Lyon on AW tonight said he was an embarrassment and should never have been on. Let's hope they're all finally starting to realise.

Did anyone hear one of the final callers tonight on 3AW - Jason (Agro Junior) got on and wanted to ask the boys after they were "waxing lyrical" about West Coasts midfield - Judd, Cousins, Kerr etc.

He asked Gary Lyon - "If the West Coast mid-field was so good how come they couldn't beat Carlton last Saturday Night/"

Lyon was near speechless and muttered "Good point Jason, very good point." 8)

Then went quickly to another call.

Might save this for another thread - but as I have been "incomunicado" for most of the weekend - Has the media given the credit we deserve for the Wizard Cup win.???

I saw Brendan Goddard & Sam Fisher (St.Kilda), Sav Rocca, Jess Sinclair, Michael Stevens (Roos) at the game last night.

Were these guys Carlton supporters as juniors? We all know about BJ!!!

All I can say is if their club dieticians had seen them, it would have been a sight for sore eyes.

Indulging in hot dogs, chips, and chocolate bars!!!!

I know that Jess Sinclair was a Carlton supporter as a youngster. Sav I think wanted to come to Carlton when North nabbed him. We got Blake Campbell as consolation.

The Elliot interview was typical Maguire.

It is all about attempting to erode the (Carlton) brand!
