and what is with his hair?

It looks like some moggy's living up there - certainly got a life of its own.

and BTW, I thought that Eddie's constant references to us as a basket case more than made up for any decent commentary. I felt that he and Denis got a bit agitated with each other over the free kick count for a while, so his support may simply have been a Vic versus interstate issue.

Don't worry, it will get worse, or rather revert to normal.

I actually think that Eddie isn't a bad football caller.

Except when calling the magpies.

I think in truly neutral games he's not bad at all. Accurate in his descriptions and doesn't say too much.

In games where collingwood is involved he truly can't win. He overpraises collingwood, tries to compensate by getting excited about the other team and comes off sounding so ridiculously insincere it's not funny.

All of us would be the same calling carlton games, but WE DON'T CALL CARLTON GAMES!

If eddie didn't call magpies game then I reckon he'd be better for it.

Oh, but he's still a tool.

fair point, and perhaps add, except when he's bagging the blues!

Did anyone notice Eddie's bitterness watching Scotland go about his business? At one stage he said something like, Scotland is good when the ball is going carlton's way but his defensive skills is where he is found out.

Let's check the Stats shall we Eddie:
Scotland - 9 kicks, 9 Handballs, 4 Marks, 4 TACKLES
Cousins - 14 kicks, 9 Handballs, 8 Marks, 0 Tackles

Need we say more !

Sensible or not, George, I thought 'one' comment was all we got out of him last night (with his continual harping on about West Coast being better suited to the hot conditions, having trained in it all summer).

But that's only because of the Jackson-esque facelift he's had.

He reminds me more of The Joker from the 80's Batman movie than the goldy-locked premadonna forward of his era.

Pathetic is the nine coverage and Eddie Money must have a permanent erection with the amount of stroking he gets from Brereton, Lyon, etc....
Agree with GH..Brereton talks crap and then talks more irrelavent garbage just to justify his position as special comments man.
The facelift is only part of the story with Brereton......if dermie had been called a knob during his playing days he probably would have taken that as a compliment...these days he is a bigger knob.....

Agree Elwood, re. the stroking...Brereton and Lyon probably fight over who gets to hold it for McGuire when he goes to the can.

Hopefully they lose the footy broadcast rights and some of those peanuts will be looking for a job.

Dermie has to go, he is the most biased commentator going around, he simply winges and wills on whichever team, he likes, to win.

LOL, Dermie is the dumbest shit, why does he talk so much, at least Gaz Lion only talks a little, Dermie tells you everything that we can already see, and he is full of shit.

At the end, when Scotto lines up and goals from 50 to seal the match, he goes, "its better for the Eagles, if Carlton kick this goal, and get 3 quick centre breaks for 9 pointers", with about 2 mins left, DERM U ARE A GOOSE MY FRIEND.

Ah, jhust back on the board after the long weekend and hello to Jarusa and thanks for the fine company and few beers at the Wizzer GF.

If I'm not mistaken I'm sure Brereton at one stage - when the scores are level or just a point in it - suggests that Carlton will have "to kick goals if they're going to win the match".

That's Gold.

He indeed did say that.

It was that one and the comment about how West Coast would be better off if Carlton kicked goals that were the main ones that led me to post about the amount of shit he spoke all night.

Dermott & Lyon were right in front of me pre-match - I swear Brereton preens more than Christie Malthouse!

Anyone hear "Sports Today" last night? A caller rang in and asked G Lyon about whether he is "influenced" by Eddie in his call. Very Interesting.

Of course Mr Grumpy dismissed it and said it was rubbish. It's actually something I don't like about Lyon, Brereton, D Russell. They can make the most stupid comments but if someone rings in and challenges them the caller is treated like a moron. It's a bit rich coming from a guy with 50% less wit than the normal human!!!

I thought Eddie did a great job on Saturday night, I actually heard him say that the "romance is back in football" late in the last quarter. He is a great caller when not covering Magpie games.

The problem with Brereton & Lyon is that they seem to get preconceived ideas in their head before calling a game and then try to justify everythiing according to those ideas. Brereton is so keen on himself that he has absolutely no respect for what anyone else thinks. Embarrassing at times. Lyon was also embarrassing in his "fondess :?" of Judd every time he went near the ball.
As nearly everyone agrees I think Eddie is a good caller when not calling a filth game. He just can't be as impartial calling filth games as he is when they're not playing and I can't blame him.
Dennis Commetti is the best imo but he tends to give the umpires a bit to much "coverage".

Did it PISS anyone else off that when Fev was lining up for the relayed free kick it had "9 POINT ATTEMPT" in the corner (it wasn't) and then the commentators went on and on about it, talking OVER the umpire going "6 POINTS, 6 POINTS". Then when he misses it they go on about he's kicking himself, he knows he's missed the 9er and crap like that, and they kept mentioning it.

They've obviously watched no other games so far this pre-season

Lyon was complimenting us at times & you could sense he was unsure if it was not all just a bad dream

At least Dennis C takes the piss out of Eddie nicely - esp at the end when he mentioned "isn't it great that some of the traditional Victorian teams are back & I bet you can't wait for all of them to do so". All Eddie could reply was "yeah". Pure gold :D

Fev did miss a 9-pointer, which was a downfield free paid to Davo (?) who was taken down after disposing of the ball. Shame that was only 1 of 2 he missed all night....Oh well, we still won, so :D :D :D :D

free kicks, paid down field, are not 9 pointers.
