Another for me was the 81 GF against Collingwood.

The chant of both teams around the ground before the start of the game was incredible:

CARLTON!...COLLINGWOOD!...CARLTON!

I thought we were gone late in the 3rd qtr. Down by around 4 goals I turned to my mate and said if we're down this far at 3 quarter time I'm going - I couldn't stand the thought of the filth winning!

Then out of nowhere, Jimmy Buckley kicked a running goal from half forward, and Ashman slotted one through from tight up on the boundary....a glimmer of hope I thought......

At the break I can still see the Filth trainers waving their towels around the boundary line trying to gee-up the supporters......

Then, the last quarter. Pure Carlton magic. Four more unanswered goals, and the filth supporters were literally crying another GF loss

Just great!!!

how can harmes' play of the century, especially when you consider the conditions and circumstances, be overlooked?

.... oh .... that's right, the hun doesn't want to upset it's filthy readership!! the hun went to a lot of trouble to add a Filth moment, bloody bummers!!

i never read that newspaper but it was on the table of the cafe i was sitting at. funny how wizz cup stuff was 3 pages in, while on the back page were articles on riewoldt and filthy rich filth! the hun's pets ... st collingwouldwintheflagif...... (insert excuse here).

btw laguna .... the jezza/magro clash was in 1979

You sure MB?

When did JEZZA take over as coach? Wasn't it early in '78?

Oh well, whatever, I know at half-time I wanted to take apart any filth supporter I saw after that disgraceful shirt-front! How many weeks would he have got today? Jezza didn't even see him coming - Magro was airborne as he hit him straight down the centre!!

Do you remember in the ’79 GF when Jezza did his ankle and got carried off late in the last(?) quarter. We relied so heavily on him I just thought, oh no, we’re gonna lose now!! How great was it when he was carried round the boundary, boot off with cup in hand!!![/quote]

I have posted this elsewhere (previously) but I believe it is a travesty the way the media ignored the exploits of our team and club when we won those 3 flags in 4 years (1979, 1981, 1982) - mainly due to the fact that Tom Prior was the chief football writer of The Sun at that time and he was filthy that Carlton was so good at that time, he couldn't stand it because he barracked for Essendon*. As a major result our team of that time was never given the credit it deserved - but The Sun had no problem in giving the Harris/Jezza bust up over the summer of 79/80 huge publicity.

Collingwood were damn lucky that this happened otherwise we would also have won 4 Premierships in a row.
