I was surprised Lemmey was delisted, and we wil see if he is taken as a DFA, or rookied by us?
Club would have said so if that was the case

Me too. Especially with Charlie looking at a trade.

The AFL, true to form, is ‘thinking’ about adding a league-funded rookie list spot for Indigenous talent. Of course, they won’t tell you about it until after you’ve set your list. That would require making a decision and it might not be politically expedient in six months time.

Anyway… good avenue for Liam Jones to get one more year - with a nice little head wobble at the commission’s f-wittery.

I really do think that we need a mature age 194cm+ gorilla to give us KDP depth while Dean & HoF develop. A big anchor we can stick on opposition gorillas. Weitering & L.Young are literally our only current options. Others like Haynes, Cowan, M.Carroll & McGovern (if retained) are not suited to the role.

It needs to a priority for us to pick one up in SSP. Here are some names that have already been mentioned elsewhere by other posters that I would be inviting to preseason training:

Charlie Dean
Wade Derksen
Sam Frost
Jacob Blight
Ethan Phillips

None are perfect footballers, but we’re talking about 1-2 year stop gap depth via SSP.

I think trying to bring Liam Jones back might be more awkward than it’s worth (but I guess stranger things have happened!) so I haven’t included him.

Are there any other options in the state leagues we should look at?

Late starter. Comes from a rugby union background.

Queanbeyan > Nightcliff > Sunbury  > Peel > GWS

I reckon five states earns you journeyman status.

That’s what I’m talking about.

Outside the square.
Get on the phone to Austin.
Surely there’s a spot for him and Schubert and Deans and Philips/best other as a rookie.

No mention of Finlayson?

197cm, can play back, forward and pinch hit in the ruck, I suspect he would get a game before Young.

Interim option until Dean and HOF are ready.

Not a bad suggestion - CD obviously would have insight.

Has Finlayson played much in defence? I think of him predominantly as a forward.

Same.

Probably a moot point though. His wife is still pretty crook isn’t she?

May is such an enigma. He is a touch mad, but shite he can play. A 1 year contract would be very interesting. I would certainly get all the negativity, but I'm sure Weits would love him down back.

I mean let's look at it............May vs Young/Gov. It is a no brainer. I feeeeeel diiiiiiiirrrrrrty saying it............but worth a look for a year.

:yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Yeah I will cop the abuse. But in my defense.................it is shite scary to think of Weits falling over during the season.

Regards Cazzesman

You don’t think May might be at the Mick Martyn stage yet?

Just asking for a friend.

Quite possibly. I really didn't watch Melb games last year. I know it fly's in my 'No DH' policy, but ..............I got nuthin'.

We all have the greatest apprehension of an injured Weits. It is the stuff of nightmares. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Yeah I thought he was still on their list with a year to run. They were just trying to flick him but no takers.
