This is the game that will break us if we don't somehow win. The Crows game was expected as the Crows are capable of playing blinders. Not only against us but against others... just usually us. So we can write that one off if we return to form quickly like teams seem to be capable of in recent times. Crows themselves being an example.

Can we win against the Saints? Probably not. I'd say Ross Lyon will have us covered. He likes nothing better than stopping a team doing what they want to do.
He wont go head to head. He will study our game and make sure we dont get up and running. Then win like others do off the back of that.

Changes are not going to help us. We just have to do what we do to the best of our ability and hope for the best.

I hear it over and over that we don't have a Plan B . Fruck , how about we work on getting our Plan A right . Plan A just happens to be contested footy . Bring that and we win the game . Its that simple .

Spot on MIck. Pressure and contest. We were piss poor with both.
We have been playing a tough man on man defensive set up and the players got lazy and wanted to guard grass instead of an opponent. Little accountability and willingness to dig in and have a dip.
Our midfield isn't built for chasing arse. If they want to play as a unit, the onus is on them to win the clearances. Otherwise defensively players like Crippa become a liability.
If you can't/wont stop your opponent doing damage when he has the ball, you have to ensure he doesn't get it.

Yes BV , it is as simple as that ............... don't want to take credit away from the Crow's coz they beat us fair and square BUT , we didn't help ourselves . We were flat as a shit carters hat .

Marshall will block TDK’s run at the centre bounce and Steele will have his birthday game on Cripps as usual. That’ll stop us from spreading out of the middle, so we’ll bomb it long.

They’ll clog the backline and slingshot, with pace, and Jack Higgins will kick 5.

Voss will alternate between the box and the boundary line and will look clueless irrespective of where he stands.

Blues $1.63 favourite LOL.

Maybe Cerra & Walsh injuries incurred against Geelong came back to bite them in Adelaide?

That might explain our fall-off in clearances after the first quarter.

If that is the case, Harry Hindsight says the match committee etc. made a terrible decision, given our record against Crows over there - would have been better to rest them for St K.

Last time we played St Kilda, Cripps had 30 possessions, 9 tackles, 8 clearances and 3 Brownlow votes. The time before he had 24 and 11 clearances. Jack Steele had 11 possessions and 1 clearance.
The game before Cripps had 34 and 3 Brownlow votes.

If that's Steele's birthday, he was given a turd as a present.
You need a break Des. You're just making stuff up to bag the coach now.

We’ll win this but until we address that we need to play contested, aggressive, defensive football all over the ground every week, we aren’t moving forward. These players are conditional and that is our biggest issue. We have the talent, but we dont want to work hard enough for too long. Just not good enough. Voss just keeps playing the conditional players and it’s hurting us as a club.

The last game of 2024 Stocker tagged Cripps
Kept him quiet in the first half
Cripps then had 14 possessions dominated and Stocker was subbed
Cripps was quiet in the last
Should not have got 3 votes

So you're agreeing that Steele didn't keep Cripps quiet as Des posted?
Not to mention Cripps also received 8 coaches votes. To go with 3 Brownlow votes.
Fancy that. :?

The behind goal footage from the kick ins looked like the mids were running some form of protest.

I’ll just wait here. It’ll be coming back in a second.

If we don’t decisively win the midfield battle, we know they’ll have circa 16 players in our F50. We’ve proven time and time again that we can’t deal with that effectively and furthermore we’ll get smashed going the other way.

Don't worry JP, our coaches love nothing more than tagging opposition half backs. Problem is we have no offensive attack then......

Must win this week and really should beat swans and giants, neither of whom are that good. Swans missing 3 of their top 6 plus amartey.

It’s gonna be a very tough game , Saint no push overs and then there’s the Voss V Lyon battle , which we sorta know how that’s gonna end up.
Got the fingers crossed but not a comfortable game , but then neither are Sydney nor GWS any easier.

Yes , there is no harder harder Coach to coach against than Ross Lyon . Ross has already started the mind games with his " they have made there bed and they have to lay in it . Well Ross , let me remind you that StKilda also have made there bed and must lay in it .
