We’ll need to leave Young in to take on Darcy.

Gee ... after watching the Dogs tonight it could get ugly. We're going to be doing a lot of chasing.

Lobb likely to get rubbed out after punching Mason Cox in the face.
We really have no excuses.

Boyd I would agree
Carroll didn't make it on the park for the reserves last night. This bloke is quickly heading down the Marchbank Martin and Cunningham route

Curnow and McKay should not play if they’re not fit. Ffs.

Binns for Lucas (I like Lucas however don't think he is ready yet)

You are joking I hope.

Acres 10 disposals at 50% eff., 203m gained, 1 mark and 1 tackle.
Kicking eff. 43%
Not good enough for an experienced wing.

Lucas a second gamer and only played 3/4s had 9 disposals at 66.7% eff., 2 marks, 3 clearances and 182m gained.
Kicking eff. 60% (10th in the team).

I'd be dropping Acres for Binns or Ben Campo if I am to be honest.
Binns has been questionable when he's been put in the seniors, I'd like to see how good the supposed "better" brother is.
Lucas has been playing well for a 1st and 2nd gamer, dropping him instead of Acres is playing favourites and accepting mediocre performances from senior players IMO. As was subbing him out last night, there were players ahead of him on that list.

Lord had no impact when coming on and Cowan was kicking at 20% so I'd drop him for Boyd.

Acres OUT !!!!

Do you recall Acres coming to the bench during the GWS game and shouting aloud to his mates on the bench "Why does my first kick always go out on the full?" Then laughing about it?
Well, he kicked 3 other OOF, and the week earlier against StKilda he kicked another couple OOF. He also missed easy shots at goal, on the run and set shot.

He is so out of form, he is not only ineffective, he's a liability. He needs a rocket, and he needs to find form.
Get him out. I'm not a Binns fan, but I'd send a message by swapping Binns for Acres, without hesitation.

Lucas may have been running out of gas, hence the sub, but there were definetel others not showing anything, who should have made way. Lord shouls have been subbed in during the 3rd quarter.

But if Carroll is OK, his form warrants selection if fit from what Ive seen.

Hope you're wrong about this kid being injury prone.

A rolled ankle that didn't come up 100%.

I reckon he gets off - eyes on the ball, realistic attempt to spoil etc

Having a look at the Dogs and Carlton and likely match ups.

I expect Lobb to be suspended
I expect Jammara to continue avoiding hair tests.
I expect the following talls in Dogs forwardline:

208 Darcy
196 Naughton
188 Kennedy

208 English and Darcy to wax the ruck

Without Lobb, they have a short backline for Harry and Charlie, so expect Busslinger 198 to come in and take Harry

I get we shopuldn't make wholesale changes, but if any of the below we out I wouldn't be too upset:

I am not a fan of:

Form
Acres: hopefully this is temporary, because he has been a great servant after his first game fail.
Gov: improved heaps vs Hawks, but that's still 50% of a player. He watches. He's stationary. He's vulnerable.
Haynes: was a huge fan of haynes. he looked brilliant vs GWS. Need proof he's not past it.

Ability

Motlop. Sure his 1.3 was an improvement but he spends most of his time observing, waiting for an easy ball. Not where he should be.
Kemp: Is not a KP. He is a flanker. As the 2nd or 3rd tall, he isnt taking marks. What's his role?
Fogarty: like Kennedy, I get what he brings to the team, but we need more than tackling from a small forward

Not sold on Lord, and Cowan is badly out of form. Not the player he was last year. Looks slow and sloppy.
Young is selected by default for his size for multiple roles against tall teams. He's all we have given we didn't find a replacement for S.Durdin.
I hope we pay out Young's contract for 2026 and replace him with a reliable 200cm player.

My current thinking is:

KPD: Weitering Young/McKay
3rd Tall SOS
IC Haynes

KPF: Curnow Young/Harry
3rd tall Moir/Kemp/ SOS

Need Boyd to free up Saad. Both give us some run from defence.
I'm hoping Cowan looks slow because he has a chest infection...just saying.
Otherwise we need more speed from defence, and 3 talls doesn't help that.

Hasn't played a competitive game of football in the best part of 2 years.
Hasn't even played a reserves game for points yet.
I have no idea how anyone could even suggest he is ready to step up to AFL level.
He was ok against GWS in practice game but if we played GWS tomorrow for 4 points the result would be reversed.

Let's see Carroll string half a dozen games in a row in reserves before we have him up as another white knight.

Problem with Carlton supporters we are so starved of success we turn bit part players into AA super stars who are going to bring us 17 ,18 and 19

This pretty much sums it up.
We have a pretty ordinary list, still.

Acres would've been the bold move that sends a clear message to him and other senior players.
Not sure if Voss and the other coaches have the cojones to that though.

OUT: Acres Fogarty McGovern ( tossing up between Fog and Motlop) ...
IN: McKay Boyd White (White is quicker, tougher and a better kick for goal than Motlop)

Fog isn't dangerous enough. Motlop is lazy. I saw his stats. I saw his game. Conditional and Lazy imo.
Neither would make the best 23 in any other AFL team on current form imo.

Their rucks are both 208cm (English and Darcy). SOS 194cm can't compete against them in the ruck.
Has to be Young following Darcy in ruck
TDK/ McKay vs English

B: Haynes Weitering Docherty
HB: Saad Young Boyd
C: Hollands Cripps Camporeale
F: TDK Hewett Cerra
HF: Cottrell McKay Walsh
F: Williams Curnow Silvagni

IC: Cowan, Lord, Motlop White
S: Kemp/ Gov
