I'd add Young to the list of 'slow down'.. In fact he was the worst...

Most pleasing today was early... When we had an extra at the contest, we found them and didn't bomb into the forward line where their spare was....

When they changed it up to man on man, we pulled some into the contest, but played an outsider or defensive player as the outlet.

Simply seeing FAST changes was pleasing. Agree.. Not sure Boyd lost a contest today Played his guts out as always. If we learn to deliver to his leads... he'll get even better...

I watched no 35 a fair bit today...
I've loved the guy...
But.. The tiny bit of lack of pace often allows his opponent out...
He's also not ' bodying' when he should be. Not sure if it's an unconscious self preservation thing

Great win today. Most of this has probably been said but, I'll repeat some of what I said at half time as well.
Our pressure around the contest today was excellent and our setup behind the ball spot on. The run to support all over the ground was terrific.
Our starting midfield of Cripps/Kennedy, Cerra, Walsh is the best balance. Not sure why we flowered around early in the year. Hopefully we let it settle.
Cripps outside game was back. Walsh has hit fitness and it shows. Nothing else to say - great midfield setup.
Docherty needs to play on a wing, Acres needs to learn to kick and stop panicking but at his best, he gets the ball and gives us drive.
JSoS is a f#$%ing work horse who would do whatever is needed and just thrives on work rate. Love him.
Martin and Cuningham have made the different forward of the ball. As I've said, can't beat class and skill. There run, carry and defensive pressure brilliant.
We lost ruck contests but smashed them at the clearances - now that is A grade midfield.
Boyd is growing and he could be something. I cannot remember the last time McGovern's played a game like that and Kemp is a player.
On the flip side - unfortunately, Ed is finished and that is the worse game I've see from Newman.
Where there is a flicker of hope - you just have to believe........

Nice to stick it up Sam Mitchell - he wouldn’t have been on the receiving end of too many Carlton thumping s in the past

Was at the game and thought JSOS played incredibly well. Did really well in the centre both with his tap contest but also with the follow up. There were a few 1v3 pressure acts where he stopped them dead and he kicked straight!
Harry excellent hands and run and effort except the ,round the corner from the set shot in front. Don’t know why he did that given he nailed a drop punt earlier. Backline very well organised. Good to see Walsh running around the back again and cunners was very clean and jack M just finds space.
The pressure and tackles in the first half were great - hawks very fumbly, although our first quarter wasn’t brilliant.
Only down for me was Ed - one of my favourites. Caught flat footed a few times and made no impact and just makes the Dow/Binns decision completely baffling. There is no way they would have made less impact and they have so much more future. Anyway Cotts will replace Ed next week you would think…

The other plus was spotting forwards up in better positions rather than the bomb and hope.

I liked how when the Hawks had the ball and made forward progress we always had the next layer of defensive pressure to support. Players would peel off and meet the contest. It suffocated the Hawks. Add that to the renewed focus on handball and we suddenly look like we are playing contemporary football.

I"m a sucker for a battler . I reckon our battlers did great today . They provided massive pressure around the football today and in a nutshell that what won us the game . If we are hard at the man and hard at the ball we will give anyone a fright . Its our stock standard DNA under Voss .

Pros:

Tackles and pressure.
Ball movement.
Double figure goalkickers again.
Cerra, Walsh, Weiters, McGovern.
Martin and Cuningham dangerous again. Charlie and Harry must love playing alongside them.
Crippa's kicking was better than I've ever seen it.
Loved SOJ' competitiveness around the ball.
Boyd gets better each week.

Cons:

Lewis Young again allowed a soft goal late in the game.

His obvious delight on ground after the siren was great to see.
His love for the club ''obvious''.

I think this match proves that we don’t need to throw the kitchen sink at TDK to make him stay, a dominant ruckman is a nice to have, we’ll be fine with Pittonet, O’Keefe and whomever we dig up in the draft if TDK wants to leave.

Spookily similar to his expressions and body language in the coaches box.

I watched the game on TV with a bunch of Carlton Hawks and Neutrals.

Its funny how we see things and don't see things.

The neutrals, like the rest of us watching, thought Young was better than TDK around the ground, and his golden fist and saving marks were priceless but have just not registered amongst the TC fraternity. Maybe he's the new whipping boy.

Yeah I know he's not a quick decision maker, but he and SOS did their job in the ruck and around the ground. Seeing our rucks on the last line, rushing the behind, fisting or marking was not a sight we have accustomed to.

I thought Gov in the first quarter was alseep at the wheel. Right from his first kick in. He shirked the issue a few times (preservation mode), but got better as the game progressed.

I'm sure everyone can see that our list does have a lot of class, when players are available. Fantastic to see Martin and Cunners 2 weeks in a row provide a dangerous option added speed and strength and snag a few goals. Do not miss Fisher Motlop or Durdin, and prefer the bigger bodies Owies, coz he hits hard and halves contests with his stronger body.

Sad Dow missed for Ed, but glad Ed will be replaced by Cottrell next week.

Weitering is a rock and in AA form again.

Doc on a wing worked well for us providing smart support and back up for our mids. You can't teach players that sort of IQ.

Seen Newman play better games. Stats didnt show all the great work Cincotta did to keep the ball moving forward from defence. He gets my "Plumber of the day" Award, for his "tap on" work: the 1%ers that make the difference.

I wouldn't mind Binns finding his feet in the forward line if there's no room for him on a wing. Fog was good, but like I said early days he cant kick from 35 out as he proved once again. We need all forwards to be dangerous at goal imo: multiple goal kicking weapons.

Acres is a work horse....just wish all his kicking hit targets. He's a strong player who helps us immensely.

KPF's kicked 6, med \ium fwds 5 and our smalls 2 goals. Mids kicked 3. Great spread of goal kickers.

Finally our mids reading the opposition's ruck and hunting the opposition's mids rather than being hunted.

That onslaught last week in the 2nd quarter and this week's first half sets up our wins as they did last year. Get a big lead early and turn the rest of the game into a street fight. Love it.

Next week, we keep up this work rate and its 3 in a row....as we march towards finals with a winning streak of 10 games in a row
