I think we’re being super conservative with Marchbank, we won’t see him in the seniors until after the bye for sure.

I am warming to the idea of Mirkov having a run in the seniors to give TDK a chop out at some stage, but not until later in the season given he has a bye coming to get recharge. It depends on how long Pittonet is out.

Carrol would be first out, but I think we should also be super conservative with Martin, he’s very fragile.

I think no changes for the pies game.

Can people stop suggesting we move Young forward. Worst idea since we moved Weitering forward

Martin for Carroll.
As Effes said weeks ago, (And copped shit for saying it) Jack looks the good but he needs to go back to the VFL and work on his footskills.

Agree. If Martin isn’t quite right I’d bring Dow in for Carroll. Deserves a chance

Could be a ‘no change’ game, but the three who look least entrenched are:

Carroll - looks promising but it won’t kill him to go back to the VFL and work on a few things. Martin seems the obvious replacement. If Martin isn’t right, other options are Kemp (if we want to bring in the extra tall player), Newnes, Dow or Setterfield.

Stocker - probably stays, but Boyd is breathing down his neck.

Motlop - is doing pretty well, hopefully he can nail more of those ‘almost’ moments. If Martin is available, and we want to bring in another tall, it’s possible both Motlop & Carroll make way.

Personally, I would make the one change:

In: Martin (or Dow, if Martin isn’t ready)
Out: Carroll

Kemp as medical sub again.

My one change would be Kemp for Carroll. I believe Carroll will make it but, as others have said, he has had a good taste now and there is nothing wrong with him going back to the VFL to work on a few things.

Given the upcoming break, we may as well give Martin a proper break to get him tip-top for the second half of the season.

Definitely not moving Young forward.
I would lean towards giving Martin more time with the bye coming.
Possibly replace Carroll with Dow.
Otherwise, no change.
No Grundy makes it less of a ruck challenge than the past few weeks IMO.

The next two week will test our resolve against weaker teams who will be v hungry.
And then the subsequent weeks - like Fri night against the Swans - will test our capability against the better teams.

PS. My early call is that we will shake up the competition when we beat the Demons just ahead of the finals… I just think we are well matched for them.

Big step up from VFL to AFL irrespective of the opponent. Marchbank I think needs 3-4 games minimum in the VFL to establish confidence in his fitness ie the knees durability.

Agree, possibly Dow if Martin not ready.

I think we need either Kemp or Marchbank to come in as another tall option.
We need to keep Moore and Howe on the defensive.

Kemp needs momentum more than a $5k match fee. We’ve got a Sunday game, so the sub will be managed out of, or withheld from, the 2s game. A full game, at any level, will be better for him.

It’s an outdated philosophy, but I reckon the knock that Motlop copped could be a bit of a foundation stone for the young bloke. If Durdin is white-hot at the moment, Motlop is getting real warm in support. I wouldn’t be doing anything to tamper with the smalls set up - and I wouldn't want to be taking my eyes off Motlop.

Carroll is vulnerable, but this could definitely be a no change game.

There might be some better structures in our kit bag, but none of the available changes fit.

Now that vfl game is over, no change for me.
Nobody did enough to force their way into a winning side.

Yeah , what a let down . Tom Cambell killed us and Jarrod Geary mopped up anything loose . .............gotta pick up a Ruckman coz now with Mirkov ( sadly thrashed by Cambell ) injured the cupboard is scaringly bare . Boyd , Kemp , Setters and Dow battled hard and could step into the senior side and be serviceable .

I just saw Hawthorn are beating Brisbane, and had the thought that it could be good for us. Then I realised it could be good for us because it puts us closer to second on the ladder, like we could be competing with them for a home qualifying final. WTF!!

I know it’s early in the season still and we have tougher tests to come, but wow, this is bizarre. I think we can officially declare the rebuild over
