Thought we got raped from the umps too.

But that last qtr territory battle is where we lost the game. That was in our control.

NO IT FRICKING WASNT IN OUR CONTROL. We played good defence and the umps refused to reward us. The umps took it out of our control.

Not complaining about the effort.
Great game of footy spoiled by the umpiring decisions.
When three commentators all call a free at the same time from the second tier and the umpire ten metres away doesn't see it....

We could have won it.

Next week we will need that intensity again against another good team.

Gibbons must play in the middle

Jack had a great 3 quarters but none of the forwards got a look at the footy in the last.

I think they all gave 100%. That'll do me.

Anyway, plenty to like.

Cunninghams second half
Cripps, say no more
Marchbank
Plowman
C Curnow, getting involved looked to move more freely

Irrespective of the umps the inside fifty count was phenomenal and our players laboured late. Just not good enough. Story of our year. At least we are consistent!

Well if it was the decisive factor then Bolts needs to show a pair and pipe up. It'll ensure next week they'll be on our side.

Bolts has to let rip re the umps in his presser and the club must keep the pressure up over the week. That disgraceful display cannot go unspoken.

Pleased with the effort but disappointed with the result. Sums up most of our season so far.

I don’t usually bother looking at the free kick stats, but at the ground we seemed to be getting a bad run with the umpires, so I decided to have a look....

24 to 8!!!!! In a close game? Plus the contentious non-decisions late in the match and I reckon it’s fair to put some scrutiny on the umpires.

Not saying Collingwood didn’t deserve to win, because it was a close game that could have gone either way, but Carlton is entitled to feel a little hard done by tonight.

Anyway.....

PROS-
Marchbank back in form.
Dale Amos. No Jones, Simmo & Newman - yet for most of the game, it looked like we were going to keep them under 100 points.
Gibbons second half.
Cripps.
Willo & Stocker starting to pick up the tempo.
McGovern.
Better showing from Charlie.

Their ruckman is quality and if he’s coming out of contract I hope we put a big offer in front of him.

We don’t often see a backman as 2nd ruck, so it was intriguing how we used Casboult today. When Jones returns, I wonder if he can play that role?

26 frees to 8, 2 only in the second half. Pies were always going to lift, but seriously an extra 3 on the field had a massive impact on the scoreboard.

I’m gutted and need a day to reflect

Do I support bolts to have a deserving crack at the umps in the hope we get more support

Or do I hope that bolts shuts his mouth and let’s the players who made some dumb decisions in the last take ownership and don’t give them an out by blaming umps.

Hird has a sook to the umps once and have been making excuses for their players ever since

Maybe a coffee with umpire boss during the week might be a better option

Hard to describe my emotions right now.

I’m proud but frustrated, angry but hopeful, numb but totally invested. The end result is a blank stare.

No doubt I’d feel different if we’d won the Syd, GC and Hawthorn games like we should’ve. But at the same time those games were lost in the exact same way as today.

That last quarter blitz was totally expected, and the game was lost by us. When we get into this situation we’re almost guaranteed to cough it up, and until we change the script ourselves I can’t see it changing any time soon. Because sure as shit our opposition won’t just just let that happen.

On the umpires, I’ll only say it’s pretty telling when 95% of BF neutrals say you were screwed over.
