Was a great great night. My father is a pies supporter - he came with us. He's never been again...

Hardly likely that Alex Jesaulenko had nightmares about Stan Magro, but certainly the Collingwood Football Club has collective nightmares about Alex Jesaulenko.

They were doing their pre-game "parade of champions" and were celebrating and lauding Stan Magro's shirtfront on Jezza.

Seriously- flower

Your memories, not just of the game itself, but the build up.

This was before the Dreamtime match, Ess Coll Anzac Day, showdowns, & just themed rounds in general. And a Thursday night game back then was something else.

First big game in front of the new Southern Stand, old rivals, build up through the week was just massive. Not that it was a long week for us though, given we'd played Footscray on the Sunday & would have a 4 day break

Their banner was enormous, ours was stock standard.

Earl knocked people over. Sticks kicked 7. The crowd gave shit to his opponent Mick Gayfer all night. I sat at the top of the Olympic Stand & walked home up Lygon Street afterwards.

Loved it.

Correct, we celebrate premierships against them, they celebrate knocking our players out, Dennis Banks was celebrated also

I remember this game very well, I was 11 and went.

Was one of my happiest memories of that time after an ordinary 89-91 period which seems like small fry with the crap we have experienced of recent times.

I remember that we were underdogs. They were the previous premiers. We hadn't played finals since 1988.
We lost to Footscray the Sunday and if I remember correctly, that was Diesel's first game from the salary cap suspension.
I have vague memories of the game, but remember well the joy in spoiling the Pies' celebration.

Was there a Sun/Weg poster after the game??
