The Elliott excuse may have been a factor, but has clearly been overplayed to downplay the money issue.

Dave Allison and the club had been at loggerheads for weeks prior to the B & F, and at no stage had he or Aaron given any indication that they were staying - publicly at least. Alison had a habit of negotiating through the media, and the club never entered into discussions publicly.

From memory the figures being bandied around was that St Kilda offered around 2 - 2.2 mil for 4 years, where as we were about 600k for 2.

The club believed he didn't deserve to be paid in the highest bracket at the club due to only finish once in the Top 10 in the B & F, with that being a 7th in 2000.

FWIW, if the figures are true then good luck to him, however if you aren't willing to discuss he numbers and answer the questions, then don't bother going on Open Mike. Regular watches would know that Sheehan loves the players who switch clubs to discuss how much they were paid/offered from both parties.

Aaron doesn't want to be seen as a Mercenary, and that's fine, but gut feel says he'd get more sympathy if he was just honest as he'd probably find out that in the same situation plenty of us would do the same thing...

Agree GWS do usually work in the grey areas - and you would think after 15 years I would let it go  but obviously haven't :fight:

Put it down to being a grumpy OLD B######

All the best GWS

We're probably lucky he didn't force more players out of the club. Force probably isn't the right word, but his negotiations on behalf of Kouta were never too much fun to experience as a fan.
