Essendon* will start favourites against us and deserving of it. Their ring ins show more heart than half our side

Weitering and Ed Curnow the only positives.
I was initially hopeful that we would at least beat Essendon* this year however I'm not so sure now.

Why all the anger towards our players 'after the siren non-emotion'......I thought we expected this and it's only our 3rd game in the 5 year reset. Get with the program people.........culture!

First half was fun. Part of the third quarter too. Less said about the ending the better.

I blame the humidity.

Going to be a long season.

Green shoots.

How long til trade week?

Not many sprouts tonight:
Weitering gun
Cripps tried hard and had a great third quarter
Curnow will play good footy
Simmo tried all night but is not going to play much longer
Ed Curnow is under rated and had a good night
Docherty goes OK

Struggling to find may positives apart from those few.

We are seriously short on leg speed and need to recruit specifically for that or we will always get killed in transition like we did tonight.
Our disposal skills are sub-standard
The priority for us is a forward setup. Bomb it to Casboult doesn't work even when it works. I have been a big fan of his but I am officially off the bandwagon as of tonight. His goalkicking yips don't warrant his getting a game. He now has 3-7 or something for the year, most of the misses being inside 35 metres.
Our rucks have no idea where to hit the ball. If you can bring yourself to watch a replay, there is a patch late in the game where Kreuzer gets four consecutive hitouts direct to Suns players, one of whom was Ablett.

Next week I think we have the Dogs. I fancy it will be hard to watch.

Very disheartening watching our players have no emotion after a loss. I'm sure Boeky wasn't the only one but that image is a major concern. He should be dropped for it.

Hmmmm....so he fakes for frees and laughs after losing.......

Kreuzer, Phillips, Rowe, Jamo, Thomas have to go ASAP.

Our rucks are useless, having two of them is a major liability. Casboult can't kick so make him ruck and mark around the ground. Rather be a mosquito fleet fwd than three talls that are useless.

Put Gallucci at FF for all I care. Wouldn't be any worse than our current set up.

Gee some real old fashioned plodders in Thomas, Graham, whiley, Phillips et al.

Need to see a whole lot more from Buckley, Kruezer, Gibbs, Boekhurst.

Saw some good things from Weitering, and a couple of glimpses from C Curnow.

Our disposal and forward entry is going to see the spoon secured easily.

We will win some games.

You just can't underestimate how badly this list has been managed for several years now. Our lack of depth and talent is the worst in the league (Richmond would be second for depth). I refuse to blame one player....or scapegoat anyone.

Some of our senior players are stuck with old habits.....bombing it etc.

Weitering is wonderful to watch and I hope we don't flower it up. I love his composure...he takes a great mark then just casually moves it on immediately. Class act, him and Ed were our best tonight.

We must continue to use the draft and it needs to be full on commitment to a rebuild...I wouldn't mind if we let some of our senior guys go if it meant we continue to get in the draft.

About as disfunctional a forward line as you would ever see at AFL level. When you think of the forwards that we have let go, the disastrous recruiting. Maybe we have started to turn the corner, maybe not, but how has it come to this? All the wooden spoons, and yet another almost assured. What a calamitous state of affairs. We are a laughing stock.

The biggest problem is that our big forwards have
no influence at all

And yet we need mids big time too. Must take those mid guns with our top 2 picks. Hopefully Harry delivers on his talent.

We're actually not too bad running the ball out of defense when we can effect spoils and the ball hits the deck. BUT W\we cannot hit targets and continually cough the ball up going forward. We are then too slow (and disorganised) and teams cut us up on the rebound with ease. If ever we do get effective disposals forward and get shots on goal, we butcher those.

We're so far back it's not funny.
