Very sad to see a person and player of his calibre leave the club.

Hope he lands and finds success at a much better club than ours (Wouldn't be hard as long as he avoids Essendon** or Qld). He deserves it after being at Brisbane and Carlton.

It is refreshing that a player who wants to leave is honest about that.
If he doesn't want to stay, I don't really want him.

However, we could probably have done more to keep him - i.e. played him at CHB where he is one of the best going around rather than at CHF where he flounders.

Once again, I am not confident that we will be able to negotiate a 1st round pick for him. I suspect Geelong's first round pick and then some would be reserved for Dangerfield so would need to be a multi-deal. And unfortunately, his form this year hasn't warranted a 1st round pick.

(Is Carlisle a free agent?)

Look I appreciate many people will be unhappy but I think Hendo until this season has been a very good contributor to the club and whilst it is sad to see him go, one can understand his decision. He has experienced next to no success and with us a good 4/5 years away from being successful he has now given us the chance to atleast get the best deal possible.

I much prefer the player being open like this than stringing us along.

The next 2 years are going to be very tough for all of us as I suspect we will get much worse before we get better.

Yeah agree. 100 games is a good effort for the club and well appreciated.

But, l don't think leaving the club for Geelong will bring any immediate success, unless they get Dangerfield. But, l think they are still a fair way off the top 4 even with him. Geelong will be in the same position as Carlton in a couple years with all the older players retiring. Selwood, Enright, Taylor, Bartel, Lonergan, johnson, james kelly, hawkins and co, all over 27+. Once they go, Hendo will be in another rebuild. He would be much better off getting paid more at Carlton and a crack at a flag in the tail end of his career, then going to the Cats if he can't get success immediately.

He did the club no favors by making this decision now. Unless both clubs have already formalized a deal and agreed on a 1st round pick in compo at least.

All the best though and thanks for your time in the Navy Blue. Look forward to booing you though :)

Jeffy decides he doesn't like the coach, gets into strife off field and causes the club significant dramas. And the common view on this board is the club/coach is to blame, and we did Jeffy wrong.

Lachy gets told at the start of the season he's going to be traded, and is naturally upset because he wants to stay. And according to this board he's a sook.

I really hope he plays blindingly well for whoever he lands at. The squealing on this board will be a delight to witness.

Would we entertain a swap for Carlisle, with Essendon* getting something off Geelong?

Decision hard to judge without knowing exactly what's happening in that playing environment.

Just hope we get a worthwhile trade.

Pretty sure. His contract talks this year were put on hold until end of the season.

If we finish bottom we won't need to trade for him though. Get him through pre-season draft if he is 100% he wants to come to Carlton. Sounds like he has a gutful of Essendon*, so it would be the best FU to the Essendon* football club to leave for nothing

have you not read one post of Em's on this topic since April? I see no reason to doubt what she says on the real cause for him leaving the club.

So what you're saying is......

The fact that Lachie is leaving can be 100% blamed on tricky dicky MadHouse Strangelove ?

He is still conspiring against us !!!

The big mistake we made is he is very talented CHB and should of been left in that position to play great footy, he is a solid CHF if in a good team. Doesn't have the size or speed to play CHF in a weak side.

I think we should of played in CHB all year and I suspect he would of had a good season and stayed. I am confident the cats will slot him in at CHB and he will play very well.

We have mis managed him similar to Essendon* with Jake C.

every player leaving is 100% madhouse's fault, if we like them.

Just remember for future reference:

Jeffy = not a sook

Lachy = massive sook

Waiting for the board to tell me if Yarran is or is not a sook. Either way it can always be madhouse's fault if we choose to make it so.

Played some fantastic footy for us.

I'm not counting this year as it appears the club is the driving force behind his leaving.

People happy to see him go now are probably the ones that booed him in his first season then had to shut up for the next 4.5 years as he played really well.

Don't forget Hamill and Campo.
Both knew that Madhouse was on the way so they left.

Maybe Hendo knows something we don't?

Could it be that Trigger and his team have scoured the country and concluded that Mick is still the best coaching option available?

Anyway sook or not,
I wish Hendo lots of luck (in having 5 sons who are all great footballers and want to play for Carlton)

Can you point us to one of these posts? I am unaware of them and not aware of the real cause for him leaving.

Sad to see him go, I adopted him as a favourite player during that period in 2010 where our own supporters were booing/bronx cheering him. Was fantastic as key back in 2011/12 and should have stayed there, it's been obvious for ages he is a much better defender than forward. Can add him to the long list of very good players in the AFL who used to play for Carlton.

Or you can bury head in the sand and not accept this is where we have ended up because of Malthouse coaching us :hitcomputer:
