Addictive behaviours in a society that can engineer addictive products and services are very much a problem.

Pokies aren't real gambling and should be wiped off the face of the earth, but everything else is fair game IMO (in moderation). I don't gamble myself, but I won't begrudge people putting small bets on during an event they're enthusiastic about.

What I detest is betting markets for every single competition that could exist, such as betting on the next PM, ALP leader, etc. So for that reason, I think the gambling industry needs to take a look at itself and ask what the @#$%&! it's doing, because it's not really making anything fun for anyone in the long run.
