The saddest thing is that when we were shit I actually cared about whether we lost or not. kingkerna said it best in another thread - normally a smashing on a friday night would ruin the weekend but now it just washes over me. I didn't even watch on Friday - flicked on for 5 minutes about 8.30 to see how much we were getting dicked by then flicked back to some shitty chick flick.

If the blokes getting paid to pull on the jumper don't give a shit why should I?

You're right. We had a young bull of a player called Fevola who could win a game of his own boot.

He frightened the living daylight out of defenders & would not take a step back in the rough stuff.

We haven't had many A graders of late

Our club is not an A grade culture, therefore by definition there will not be any A graders on our list regardless of whether they are an A grade recruit, whether it be from another club or a high draft pick from the TAC, or a 21 year old from the WAFL.

Our culture will turn them into B or C graders very quickly.

The Golden Age of Shitness (2002 - 2007)

2007 was when Gibbs played his first season for us ...

During that era I think we all held out hope some early draft picks could put everything right, we now know it's the culture that needs fixing, and that ain't happening!

Well this year we're going to get as a minimum Picks, 2, 20 & 38 (after this week it could be 1, 19 & 37  ) , but either through crap player development, or just plain bad selection (we are maestros at both  ) we are bound to turn it to rolled gold shit again.

Obviously got the inside word from Karl. I thought he lived with LA, not Livo.

Herein lies the problem.
Until such time as a ticket can be formed to topple the benefactors who ve ruined our club and stalled our culture at 1995, we will always be a middle of the road side.
The players don't give a toss, because they will still get paid win lose or draw. The board knows they don't have to work hard, as these rich knobs will always be around to toss in a few quid and be pandered to.
If this isn't fixed now, we will become like Melbourne, who still harp back to Barrassi and the 50s and 60s 50 years later.

I feel like we already are like Melbourne. It's just that we hark(?) back to the 70s and 80s instead of the 50s and 60s. We are in a horrible cycle than requires some unification and bloody hard work to escape from. Unification will be hard to achieve with visions such as "Dr" Edelsten in the coaches box.

We put this together many years ago, but your title is much more effective:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 02+to+2007

Effectively for every win in this period we had a 10 goal (or more) loss....

You know, thinking back, at least in those years we managed to win at least one game in Australia.

The element on the Periodic Table has yet to be discovered that adequately describes the level of Shitness of this current age.

I recall Dylan Maclaren joining us due to the quality of Mrs. Pagans sandwiches.

What a delightful saunter down spastic footballer memory lane.

As I can rarely see live games on the TV I used to religiously avoid all mention of Carlton games in any media until I could get access to the replay so I could be surprised by the result.
Nowadays I don't bother because I know we lost, and I often don't even bother with the replay.... Even if the game is live on Australian network I don't bother watching, much better things to do with my day, like cutting my toenails.....
